I waited for 16 days and her Paypal e-check failed to be cleared, but insisted to receive two winning items at value of $104.00, due to the urgency of matter.

This Alexis Callaghan scammed me of Sailor Moon DVD's. She begged to shipped and I did.

She won an auction from me #2928873171 on 5/16/03.
She asked me to ship before the echeck cleared since it was a gift. She had glowing feedback so I shipped.
Then her feedback went south.....she claims to have a stolen identity problem.
Not really believable since the packages went to her.
Feel free to contact me anytime.

"Alexis" claims identity theft, but if this is the case, she opened a lot of packages before figuring it out, apparently. If she is truly innocent, that is good for her and still bad for the rest of us. But I have to admit that it sounds fishy.

"Alexis" purchased a rare, collectible book from me, "The Magicians of Gor." Quick with communication, she said she had sent an e-check and didn't realize they took several days to clear. She asked if I would check her feedback and consider shipping anyway as it was a gift and she needed to get it in time to give to the person. I did check her feedback, and considered it a good risk. I have never had this problem in almost 3 years of selling on eBay, so I decided to go with the odds and sent her package. The e-check was taking an abnormally long time to clear (was supposed to clear on June 2nd) and then was cancelled. My delivery confirmation shows that the item was delivered on May 22 @ 11:15 am.

The trader's handle on eBay is "carpediem4ever" and has already been suspended from eBay.

The emails used in my correspondence with this trader are: orders@carpediem4ever.us , lauralippman@hotmail.com, contact77me@hotmail.com

The address where I shipped the package:

Alexis Callaghan
P O Box 26
Langeloth, PA15054
USA

My auction ended on 5/18/2003. The sale amount was $55.00. "Alexis" sent $10.00 for shipping before I had even quoted a shipping price. I shipped on 5/20 and the box arrived on 5/22.

I will be happy to answer other questions that may lead to a solution.
Thank you,
Jan Pursel

Additional information that might be helpful:
I am actually out a total of $60.52 - that includes what I originally paid for the book, what it cost me to ship it, and the final bidding amount on the auction.

Should I go ahead and get my final auction fees back from eBay in the meantime? I may not get the item back to sell again, I realize, but at least I could get the fees back, if that is okay to do under the circumstances. Please let me know.

Also, should I go ahead and file something on the FBI website to which your website has a referral link?

Thank you for your assistance in this matter!

Alexis Callaghan won 4 ebay items and asked me to sent her the items before the eCheck through Paypal cleared. Since she asked me to consider her perfect positive feeback for the early send, I did it. A few days later, I realized that the eCheck had bounced. Her user id on ebay and paypal is carpediem4ever.

ALEXIS, OR WHOEVER, BOUGHT A BOOK FROM ME AND SENT AN E-CHECK. I MUST HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE EARLY ONES BECAUSE WHEN SHE ASKED FOR IMMEDIATE SHIPPING THE FEEDBACK WAS STILL ALL POSITIVE. SO THE BOOK IS SENT AND THE E-CHECK FOR 17.25 IS CANCELLED.

I, too, was duped by this person. I sent her 2 items without waiting for the e-checks to clear, since she (at the time) had perfect feedback. The item #s are 3326767127 ($58.00) and 3327313730 (41.00). That doesn't include the $10.00 in shipping fees.

Please let me know if you need any more info. I've saved every email concerning this issue.

She goes by many names and many email addresses. Alexis, Laura, lauralippman@hotmail.com, orders@carpediem4ever.us. Begged me to send item early as a "gift" to someone while her e-check cleared. I did but it never cleared. I waited 10 days. Will not respond to email and MANY people are complaining that they've also dealt with her. When I tried to leave neg. feedback, I couldn't because there was no such user. eBay-how can you suspend someone on April 02 and they still bid and win on all of these items and scam all of these innocent people two months later? I have many documents and plan to contact many people to deal with this person.

Alexis won my auction for 750.00 and ask that I send it asap for a gift and to check her positive feedback. She swore the e-check would be good. I waited 7 days and then the check was not any good. I have lost money on this auction and to many others have lost money, something needs to be done.

"Alexis" (if that's her real name) won my eBay auction. She claimed she needed the books as a gift and emailed me twice asking me to send them right away. Her feedback at the time was perfect so I fell for her lies. The books were mailed and delivered. I have all the emails and the delivery confirmation for the books. The Paypal echeck was cancelled shortly after the books were delivered. She claims she will return the books C.O.D. but says she can't mail them until the end of the month??? What a blatant lie! All she had to do was "return to sender." There is no possible reason she couldn't have returned all this merchandise already. Thanks for the links to the Post Office and FBI Fraud complaint forms. I will be using them and I hope others do too.

Won 2 items of mine at EBAY auctions. Pre bid contact was to ask if items were in complte boxes. On payment with echeck at paypal for each item i received the saeme email asking me to ship the item right away as the item was needed as a gift and the winning bidder would get into trouble with the gift recipient if they did not receive right away. I sent an email reply that my ploicy is to ship when payment clears. There was no response in either case. This type of email always makes me leery and I hold the item(s) and wait and watch. Reserving judgement. When the second BIN took place and I received the same email from the winning bidder it began to look to me like this was a preprogrammed sabotage effort by a hacker. Surely seller beware is applicable here. Sellers need to have policies in place and stick to them in order to make trading as safe as is possible. this is not the only scam at ebay right now. after being on the receiving end of quite a few in the past 6 months i had had it and was not going to put up with any more. dishonesty on the part of bidders and sellers alkie hurts the value of the ebay trading community as a whole and quite frankly while i do not wish to do so will be passing on the costs of fraud to all my ebay bidders in the form of higher prices. sad but the many honest folks will have to pay for the dishonesty of the few rotten apples in the barrel. i too received the email from alexis claiming identity theft and sent an email with instructions not to open any of the packages sent to the PO Box but to mark them " delivery refused, return to sender" which is a free service provided by the post office. did i receive a reply? no. of course not. i did not ship but feel for all those other sellers who did. ebay's vintagekid

Hooray! Alexis mailed back our books at her own expense! Hopefully she will soon do the same for the other sellers.

I am posting to let people know that "Alexis" returned my book to me at her own expense for shipping. It dawned on me that if her identity was indeed stolen, it could have been a family member (rebellious or mentally unstable or vindictive relative). That could be why the items went to her address. Who knows, but she did cooperate with me, so maybe others can get their situation sorted out, too. FYI!
