I already posted this problem to the main bad trader's board, but it involves a good chunk of money, so I can use all the help you can provide . . . I won an auction for Maple, Brittannia, and Germania for $250 at the beginning of January - I paid by credit card and it was charged for the full amount plus shipping on 1/5/00 - by the end of January I was starting to get nervous about having not received my beanies yet, so I began e-mailing the seller daily (resale4984@aol.com, resale@forbin.com) and calling by phone at least four times a week (319) 988-4554 I recieved no response until the phone was accidentally picked up on 2/3/00 - the man who answered informed me he had been in the hospital and would send the beanies within a few days - today is 2/24/00 and I still have not received them - my e-mails are not returned and my phone calls are not returned . . .While I have a great deal of sympathy for medical problems, I would think that a good business person would at least have someone change their answering machine message or send a list-serve e-mail to inform his clients as to the problems he is experiencing . . . Ideally, I'd still just like to get my bears, but a refund would work at this point, too . . .

The name of the company is Beanie Wholesale (www.bearwholesale.com) and according to nobidding.com their address is
819 Sycamore,
Waterloo, IA 50703
(319) 988-4554
(resale4984@aol.com, resale@forbin.com)

I've contacted the post office with a fraud report, the FTC with a fraud report, posted negative feedback on nobidding, and contacted you guys - so hopefully this will get worked out! Anyway, thanks for your help and have a great day!

Update from: fleur@boisdarc.tamu-commerce.edu

Well, your letter has at least partially worked! I got a package today containing Brittannia, who looks authentic, though I'm about to get on MBBW to make sure and a note that said 'The rest are coming.' so it remains to be seen if they will, but I think you scared him! Thanks for all your help!

Update filed by: fleur@boisdarc.tamu-commerce.edu (Fleur Wiorkowski)

I have always maintained that I can be a real, well, unpleasant person when properly provoked - which resale has done . . .I filed complaints against him with my local police department, the Better Business Bureau, Iowa attorney general, Texas attorney general, and I'd had those previous complaints to the FTC and post office - plus I called the Visa people, and they were really nice, actually . . . If I think of any other fraud people while I'm working out tonight, I'll file with them, also . . .I really just want my bears! Anyway, thanks for all your help and of course I want resale placed on the bad traders list now and forevermore!

Cautionlist never got a reply from the many emails sent to them. The resale@forbin.com is not a current one but the resale4984@aol.com is still current. They did send her the one bear after I emailed them but nothing else.

Response from: Resale4984@aol.com

This is the first day that we have seen your email. We received money for germania maple and britannia and sent it to a guy to have it sent to her the guy stole the money. We waited for a month for the guy to make good. The best we can and want to do is send her her money back

Well, I finally got my check for $170 from resale - don't think I won't let it clear before I stop using it, but at least it is here!  Have a great day! And thanks!!!  fleur

.It's amazing how many customers have turned into bad debt..Tony Baker was a meta exchange customer. The first several deals were ok..Then in December of 1999, he again ordered product on metaexchange. We shipped the product, received a check from him & then it was returned from the bank because he stopped the payment for no apparent reason. After trying several times, I finally spoke to him. He asked for additional product & would send out another check for the stopped payment and the additional product. I sent him the product, received the check, deposited into the bank, and the second check was returned as a stopped payment. Since then I have not been able to contact him or his company. I have tried by phone & e-mail to no avail. I have sent demand letters & sent him & Carol Overbey(signature on the checks) to collections. Since the product was sent UPS, it is not considered mail fraud or I would have done that also. Beanie Wholesale has an open balance of $833.41 with my company. They are located at 819 Sycamore, Waterloo, IA 50703. The e-mail address at the time was resale@forbin.com. I would advise that no one do business with them. Tony Baker & his associates have committed fraud and should be prosecuted!! Any further information or help that you can supply me would be most appreciated.
