Last Oct.(2002) I purchased a Caw for $450 us(I know too much) from an online
store that guarantees 100% authenticity, never been played with, collector
quality, mint with mint tags. They put the beanie in a case for me. I left
the beanie in the case until the middle of March 2003, when I was getting
several beanies authenticated. I opened the case, took out the beanie and
opened the swing tag. I was horrified to find whiteout inside the tag. I
sent messages to this store indicating that they had false advertised. 3
emails later (yes I kept them) I finally got a response to return the beanie.
It is supposedly en route as we speak.
In the meantime, I sent 31 beanies for authentication, only to discover that this same store sold me a Bumble for $275 (I know too much) with a fake tag. Now my blood was boiling. I had the authenticator return Bumble to the store.
I enquired a few days later, if they had received either beanie. They told me that Bymble had arrived, but Caw had not. I then received an email stating that they were going to replace the counterfeit tag with an authentic tag and return it to me. Well, they don't yet know this, but they are only going to refund my money.
I had a telephone conversation with the owner of the store. He tried to tell me that older beanies like Caw were extremely difficult to find in MQ condition. I told him that he was supposed to have sold me a mwmt Caw and that is what I expected. I was going to be ok wuth them replacing Caw until I received their email concerning switching tags on Bumble.
I am still waiting for the Caw to arrive, and I suspect it will take
some time as it is coming from Canada and the border is holding up everything.
I concede that I was wrong for not opening the box immediately, and my only
reason for this is that I was trying to preserve its mint quality. Even the
store owner acknowledged during our telephone conversation that he should
have checked it before it left.
The point I made to him was that he guaranteed me a 100% authentic, mint beanie and that there is no time limit on that guarantee. If it had said I only had a certain amount of time to return if not satisfied, I think I probably would have opened the box. Even Bumble was sent to the authenticator in the original bag I received it in.
I have discovered that this particular online store is an authorized
Ty retailer. I found this quite disturbing. I didn't think authorized retailers
were allowed to sell on the secondary market. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Both Beanie Babies were sent authentic to Mrs. Wilkinson months ago. She
received them and has been a valued customer since. We appreciate your time
and concern involving this matter.

Message to Beanies n' Boyds from Mediator Pat.
I have received copies of all the emails exchanged between your shop and
Ms. Wilkinson. The beanies/tags that you sent her were not authentic. After
authentication to prove they were fake, Ms. Wilkinson wrote to us for help.
She is expecting a complete refund for her purchases. She does not want,
nor will she accept, a tag replacement for Bumble.
Please let us know how you wish to handle this. If we don't hear from you, we will be forced to put up a Bad Trader Page in your name at www.traderlist.com/caution.html, and will advise Ms. Wilkinson to begin to pursue Internet and Postal Fraud charges, and she will also contact Ty's Legal Department.
We look forward to your prompt response. We have asked Ms. Wilkinson
to save all email correspondence and receipts, and urge you to do the same.
I am sending her a copy of this email.
