Bill Malie is one bad trader. There has been much about him on the beanie trading sites. He is 14 years old who leads one to believe that you are trading with an adult. The trade was for I was to post 1 Maple he was to post 1 Summer trio and 1 Schweetheart Buddy on Sept 4. He never posted. He said he did and kept leading me on saying the post office must of lost them, customs had kept them, stories like that. He uses different names and e-mails, at one time he was using tyrrific@hotmail.com He participates in a few good trades to get references on himself posted on e-bay under beaniesforever@meanie.hypermart.net I was in touch with mccapping@sprint.ca concerning a deal she had with him. She said she had been taken to and was in the process of trying to get her beanies back. She said she finally got them. She said she had spoken to his parents on the phone and he said he didn't understand what he was doing. I let you decide whether there is truth to that. His address
Bill Malie
1963 S. Main St.
Washington , PA  15301 USA
I am not sure this is his phone number but ??1-724-827-3849??
If I can give you any more info please let me know. Regards Jo-Anne
(Cautionlist was able to get Bill to send Jo anne her beanie and when he did I deleted the file I had on him. then right after that I began getting complaints again and this time bill did not reply to my emails. So I am placing Jo Annes experience with him here with her permission as she states she would never have received if not for cautionlists help. She send me her original complaint on September 28 and I emailed Bill and she got her beanie back on about Oct 7.)

I think I am being scammed - again.I agreed a trade with a man called Bill Malie on 12th September. I agreed to send a MWCT Libearty in exchange for a Garcia and Kiwi. I had received my Libearty in a trade the previous week. I wasn't sure if it was genuine as the fur felt a bit rough, but three traders in England told me it was the real thing and thought the bear had just been sponge cleaned. I explained all this to Bill and said if he wasn't happy when he received the bear he could let me know and I would return Garcia and Kiwi straightaway, and he could send back the Libearty. I sent off Libearty on 13th September and Bill was supposed to mail too. I sent mine via Swiftair. So far I have tracked it as reaching Kennedy airport on the 14th September. I still have not received Garcia or Kiwi, but I feel sure he has received my part of the deal. I have never had a parcel gone missing yet. I intend to complete a lost parcel form at the post office on Monday in the hopes that they can confirm it was delivered, but I just know it was. Five days is the usual length of time for Swiftair, 8 days max. I checked his ebay references before I agreed to the deal. He told me his references were under bobenbeanie, and they looked great. I particularly thought it would be okay to trade with him because one person said he helped with a scammer, and one said he helped with the authenticity of a beanie.Yesterday I thought I would write to about 10 of the references and see what they had to say. I am now getting very disturbing reports. One says she has no record of a Bill Malie at that address for the reference Bobenbeanie. One says he's changed his ebay reference to B-Nee. Another person said she had an email from a lady because Bill failed to send the promised trade. She has passed on the details, and actually there are two people. I am trying to contact them. So, I know he has scammed at least three people, plus me.Details are:
Scott Kotrla skotrla@yahoo.com
Monika Cappin mccappin@sprint.ca
Keith Goldthorpe jastar@telusplanet.net
When I have sent this e-mail, I will forward another from a person helping me. In it she says ebay closed Bill Malie's account because he was soliciting positive feedback by sending e-mails to people and claiming that the things they were bidding on were fakes. Also attached to it is an e-mail from Bill, saying ebay closed his account because someone found out his password. Obviously that was a lie. I have just written to queue@phoenix.ebay.com (eBay Customer Support). I wrote to Bill yesterday saying that if he didn't send my Libearty back or Garcia and Kiwi, I would contact the bad trader list (you) and also the police. He wrote to me last night (I will forward that also after this) saying I was threatening him. He said he would get me thrown off ebay, aol and the internet altogether. I wrote back and said I wasn't threatening him, just stating what I would do if he didn't come through with the goods. I thought I had better put my side of the story to eBay Customer Support, but it turns out if they have closed his account, they know already that he is a scammer. I have also learned that Bill Malie has 4 e-mail addresses: malie@nb.net
tyrrific@hotmail.com
scaly@meanie.hypermart.net
beaniesforever@meanie.hypermart.net
His snail mail address is: 1963 S. Main St., Washington PA 15301. I believe Scott, one of the people he scammed, sent Bill a money order. He told Scott not to make the m/o out to Beanie Land, but to him personally. I think Bill might run a shop called "Beanie Land" at the above address, or maybe it's a mail order place. Sorry. I am keeping you really busy, aren't I. I very much appreciate all the support you have given me in my other scammers (Mavis Ng of Singapore and Carol van Weelden of Matteson, Illinois). It's great that the good traders have someone so supportive they can turn to in these emergency situations. Thanks a million. Marian Barker, Brighton, England.

Complaint filed by: mccappin@sprint.ca

I received e-mail from Marian (CYRIL8342@aol.com) regarding Bill  Malie. Just wanted to let you know that I have finally gotten my beanies back from him. I'm really glad to see that there are people who help others in cases like these. I''d be happy to help in any way that you would need. I think that Bill should be taught a lesson about swindling people out of their beanies and his parents should be informed of what their child is up to (he is only 13 years old). Please let me know if you need anything, I posted an ad on the beaniemania trade board stating that I had beanies for trade for a gameboy and games. He responded and said that he was a dealer of gameboy stuff and we worked out a deal. He asked me to send it regular mail without signature as he would not be there to pick it up due to a relative being in hospital for surgery. I had a weird feeling but he had a 40+ feedback on e-bay and his user info was the same as the address that he provided me. So I sent my beanies and after two weeks he had still not received them and I still had not received my gameboy etc. I e-mailed him and he kept saying that it was coming. i went to beaniemania and did a search for his name and found out that some people posted warnings. I knew that I had been had. I e-mailed him and asked him about it and his response was "I laugh in your face". I e-mailed some people who did deals with him and found that he was definitely not a good trader. This is when I took the advice of some people and threatened him with legal action as well as the police. It finally worked and I got my beanies back but I don't think that they were the ones that I sent him because one of them looks really weird and I would have never sent one that looks like that (97 Teddy). Besides that when I started threatening him he begged me to let him keep some because he promised a couple of them to "Ashley next door". So I did get beanies back eventually but I spent many hours on my computer to get them (I spent my husbands and I first wedding anniversary weekend on the computer threatening Bill, so needless to say I'm still upset with him). A couple people that I e-mailed told me that he was a kid and now that I think of it he acts like a kid. Some of the e-mail that I got from him after I found out that I had been scamed looked like it was written by a child. Also a person who spoke to him on the phone confirmed it. If you would like a copy of the e-mails (from him to me) please let me know. Monika.

I have been contacted and asked to relay my dealings with the above noted person.I did not actually make a trade with this person mostly because the deal started to seem too good to be true to me, so I randomly contacted some of his glowing recommendations and received replies that were anything but glowing.I also clicked on his name with ebay, I believe it was bobenbeanie and found through that that he was not even registered with ebay. they had taken him off. So if you dig deeper than the actual listings especially if things seem too good to be true, sometimes things do turn up.Thanks

My deals are not going well with Bill Malie. When I made the MO purchase last week, I did not realize that I had already sent out a check for another purchase the week before because the email address was different. The check for $204.28, and it cleared my bank on 9-28-99. He was supposed to ship the beanies on 9-17-99, the day I mailed the check, but I still have not received them. In addition, I priority-mailed a MO for $176.22 last Tuesday for a different set of beanies, and Bill was to ship them by Saturday, 10-2-99. I have still not received anything from that order either. When I question Bill about these orders, he has ignored me, except for the last message he sent me which contained the following:
"Hello Scott. Everything went out, you should have them by now. I just got 5 Osito and 4 Spangle today, nothing else exciting."
He has not answered my emails about when he shipped them, and since I do not have them yet, it seems like there may be a problem. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Here are the beanies he owes me: Bessie 1, Flip 2, Goldie 4, Magic 3, Bucky 1, Doodle 1, Speedy 2, Spooky 2, Velvet 3, Weenie 1, Snowball 2, Spangle 3. I sent payment to the following address:
Beanie Land (make the m/o out to B. Malie)
1963 S. Main St.
Wash PA 15301
This person also has several thousand dollars worth of beanies for auction ending 10-11-99 on ebay under the username bmalie. I fear he may be scamming several additional people. Thanks, Scott

Update from: CYRIL8342@aol.com

Just this minute got off the phone. I rang the number Monika McCappin sent to me 724-225-0423. The person that answered said he was Bill's brother. I'm not sure if it was Bill or not, but he sounded about 19 years old and quite intelligent. I told him I was from England and Bill had scammed me out of my Libearty and I wanted it back, also that he has scammed someone called Scott out of $400, plus a bunch of other people. I said I wanted to talk to his parents but they were out. He took my number, and said the best time to ring was in the afternoons about 3pm. We are five hours ahead here. I will try and ring again 8pm my time tomorrow and see if I get anywhere. I told him to tell Bill if I didn't get my beanies, and everyone else that he owed, he will end up in prison, and anyway he will be getting a visit from the Police and I would notify the National Fraud Info. Centre. He said he would be sure to tell his parents. He sounded not surprised, just fed up.I'll try tomorrow and let you know how I get on if I manage to speak to his parents, or they ring here.Marian.

Update from: CYRIL8342@aol.com

I telephoned the USA at 5.15 pm and spoke to his father. I get the impression that he thinks his 14 year old son Bill is some sort of genius. I also got the impression that he didn't believe everything I told him. He has asked me to send him a copy of my mailing receipt, which I promised to do tomorrow. He is supposed to be e-mailing me once he has spoken to his son about this matter to let me know what he is going to do. I said I will telephone the police if I don't get my Libearty back or the Garcia and Kiwi I was promised. He did mention someone else had been in contact with them from England, which I assume was beaniemike@mikebootman.freeserve.co.uk. I also told  Bill's father that I had telephoned twice in the week, and asked if he had received my messages. He said he hadn't. I told him I had spoken to his older son, and that someone had told me he was in on the scam with Bill. He said his older son would not do such a thing, but he would ask about the phone calls I made when he came home from work today.Bill e-mailed me a couple of days ago after I told him he was running out of time before I rang the police. He was polite in his reply and asked me for the receipt number. I gave it to him but said he wouldn't have time to check before I rang the police as by then he had run out of time for his package to arrive. I am going to attach his reply to this e-mail. It just goes to show that he never posted anything to me in the first place. HE is accusing ME of scamming HIM!!! How can that be, when I have actually sent him a Libearty, I have a receipt for the postage, and he has confirmed that he has posted nothing!!! I am just so cross. This is email that I got from Bill:
From: Malie malie@nb.net
To: CYRIL8342@aol.com

Dont worry, you will not be getting anything from me woman. How dare you, try to rip me off. BM!

October 18, 1999 Cautionlist received proof from Marian that she had sent to Bill. She sent me the receipts.

Update from: : CYRIL8342@aol.com

I received this e-mail from Michael. I think now that the whole family are in on the scam, and they are getting antsy in case I ring the police, which I will do if they don't confirm my beanies are on their way.Marian.
"it was me that phoned his house I spoke to his mother I live in wales I think that maybe his perants are all in with what bill his doing so they can get money there is no need for you to send the receipt if you sent it by international recorded delivery there is a free number in the usa that he can phone and they will tell him that the package has been deliverd to them you have only got to give them the ref ,no on the international recorded receipt that you have and all they then have to do is phone that number and give the ref, number that you will give them and they will tell them if the package was deliverd to his address I do have the number of the police that is near bills home if you need it let me now after I spoke to his mother she made bill promise to send mine back to me so I told his mother that I would send him an e mail to corfirm my name and address for them to send mine back to me then bill was trying to say on the net that he did not get mine he then offerd me some other ones for the ones that I sent him he offerd me ones that were a lot of crap so I told him that I still wanded mine back he then said that he no longer had mine and it would cost him $650.00 dollars to get mine back he said that he could not afford to buy them back he then offerd me 3 ositos for the 3 brits and 2 w/f spangels that I sent to him I told him where to stick them he then send another e mail to me saying that I wrote that I would take them for what I had sent him so I phoned back is house to speek to his perants and he aswerd the phone I told him that I wanded to speek to them and not you so he has now offerd to send me 2 GERMANIAS AND A OSITO and that he would send them out thursday by recorded delivery and that he would give me the ref,no so I could find out that he has send the package out to me will have to see what will hapen if you want the police number in his town let me now michael

October 19, 1999
Update from: CYRIL8342@aol.com

I got an e-mail from someone who said he was Bill's dad, using Bill's e-mail address. But I now believe that the whole family is on on this scam. I thought it was strange, because some of the e-mail seems very immature, i.e. from a 14 year old kid, and some seems very cool and mature. Anyway, I got e-mail from Michael in Wales (beaniemike@mikebootman.freeserve.co.uk), and he told me how he got through to Mrs. Malie on the phone, and next time he got through to Bill. Bill said he didn't have the bears he was supposed to be trading for and offered something else, but Mike refused in no uncertain terms. Then he offered 2 Germanias and an Osito and has promised to mail out by Recorded Delivery on Thursday. Mike has told him he wants the number so he can track it. I wrote to Bill (or his father) and said I wanted my Libearty back or the bears I traded for. He said he didn't have my Libearty. I replied saying I knew he did and gave him 24 hours to confirm he would send it back or the trade. Then he said he has no Garcia Kiwi or Libearty, but he does have Germania, Britannia and Osito. This is what I replied :"I am not interested. I want my Libearty, or Garcia and Kiwi. If you can't produce either of these, I want a money order NOT A CHEQUE for $250 in the post NOW. The clock is ticking. You have less than 24 hours now. I want you to send whatever you sent by recorded delivery and I want the number so I can check with the USA mail that you have posted and can track it. No more excuses. I am not interested in them. What are you sending me? Libearty? Garcia and Kiwi? Or a money order for $250?"He has replied again saying "I am trying to work something out here! I don't have any Libeartys, Kiwis of Garcias. I have a Germania and a Britannia left over".I have replied : "I am not interested in "working out" anything. My last e-mail was my last offer. If you can do none of those things, then I shall telepohone the police once 24 hours is up. You made a deal. You must stick to it or return my bear. If you can't do that, you must pay for it. No deals. No compromises. Or face the consequences. The clock is still ticking." I shall check the mail when I come home tonight. It is 5.20 am here and I must get to work. If he doesn't comply, I will ring the police later this evening. I am sick of the whole family. How dare they do this over and over to people? I am not going to compromise here. My husband thinks I should thinks I should take a Germania and a Britannia, but I have plenty of those and don't see why I should take anything less than what I traded for, or be paid for my Libearty. I am so angry about all this. From what I gather, this is what they always do. Once someone is on the verge of contacting the police, they send them some other beanies to keep their mouths shut. Well, it won't work with me. I just got off the phone from speaking to Corporal Williams of the Pennsylvania State Police (Tel: 00-1-724-223-5200). I gave him details of Bill Malie and his family and said I would fax copies of all the paperwork to him. I am going to spend the rest of the evening typing out a letter/report for Corporal Williams, and will copy all the e-mail I have concerning his scams.Maybe if enough people phone him, he will see what a huge problem Bill Malie and his family are causing.  I have also sent this information to everyone that has been scammed by bill and they will conact the police also. I will let you know how I get on.Marian Barker,Brighton, England.

Caution Message Board posting:
Wednesday, 27-Oct-1999
babymeff@aol.com

Bill Malie ripped me off for $287.00. It was to be for 2 twigs buddies for my kids. I sent him a money order on Sept.16th and he cashed it on Sept.23rd. He has admitted to not sending them and has offerd me other items, which he also did not send. That is his way of putting you off for a period of time.He has repeatedly said he will send me my money or that he has already sent it.Then he contradicts himself.I told him I have a copy of his signature on the money order I sent, and he tries to make it like he can`t remember.I have been going back and forth with this little ---- for some time now.I have filed several charges against him and I will not stop until I see justice done.I hope and pray that I have the support of all those who have been done wrong by this person. If need be,anyone of you that has been done wrong by him may contact me.Thank you all for reading.

My name is Gary Lennon (grlennon@rmi.net). I have been on the net trading beanies since 1997 on many boards. I have witnessed some of the most foul language imaginable from Bill Malie in Washington, Pa. He is a teenager that wrecks havic with many traders and boards. Anything you can do about him will help make the beanie world a much better place to be in. Thanks, Gary.

Update from: skotrla@yahoo.com

Please forward this message to anyone you know that is owed money or merchandize by Bill Malie. Bill Malie owes me $380. I sent him money for beanies and he claims he shipped them, but he has no receipts to prove it. He has been putting me off for three months. One law firm in Pennsylvania, asked me for a list of people and the values of the money owed. I am considering some sort of lawsuit against him. From what I understand, he has ripped off tons of people. I don't know what the costs would be as of yet; that is why I am talking to this lawyer. If enough people get involved, we could possibly do this without spending too much money. Please send me an email if you would be interested in looking into this. I am not asking for a commitment; just a little of people who would be possibly interested. Also please include what Bill Malie owes you, and some estimate of value. Thanks, Scott

I have just seen your message about Bill Malie, This person as ripped me off for 4 britannias. Which he said he as never received. I send one back in June to him and then 3 back in July which I had him to sign for them. I have sent him mails at the time he never answered them, I am claiming through my insurance on the 3 britannia that I sent him, I am still waiting from parcel force in the UK. They have told me he as signed for them. Also this is really weired. I was sending him mail for months and then I just give up in the end. But about a ten days ago he sent me a mail asking me why I had sent him a germania. Which I send out a lot on trades. Anyway the last time I sent anything to him was back in July. So I asked him what the post mark said on the package and he said the 2nd of November. Anyway at the moment I am in Florida on holiday for christmas and I have mailed him to tell him to mail the parcel to my florida address. We will have to see if I get the parcel. When I was mailing him. I told him that I would be reporting him to his local sheriffs department because what he was doing was mail fraud he never reply untill about 10 days ago. he never even mensioned the brits to me. But I did in my mail back to him.I hope you can understand what I am talking about. Hope to here from you soon Dawn

basically bill and i agreed that we would trade...i would send him my rare indonesian patch flag brittania for 10 regular brittanias, 5 ositos and i think 3 glorys...all in perfect condition. i thought that i had found the trade i was looking for until weeks later i was left with nothing. it started with him letting me know his ebay user id so that i could check his apparantly flawless refrences, which was what they were at a first look...40 was the ebay trade score he had, and of course i was so impressed with this feedback that i agreed to the trade. we would send on the same day and i kept my part of the agreement and sent the bear in perfect condition and according to the post office it had been sent and had not been misplaced. this was when i started to worry because it had now been about 2 weeks after everything had been sent and it usually takes roughly 5 days to arrive to the states from ireland. i contacted bill but after a short period of time he stopped replying to my e-mails and so my percistance was useless. i mentioned legal action etc. but nothing worked. at this point i thought i had well and truley been scammed! then just today i was just about to post an ad on beaniemom when i came across a notice and suddenly i saw the name bill malie...i immediatly e-mailed the address given (yours) ad got a reply promptly stating a web url for the bad trader posts on bill malie. i saw a few different phone number relating to bill malie and he second one i tried started sent me on my way! i spoke to his father who sounded less than pleased to hear about his son who sounded rather worried than his e-mails portrayed...after the conversation i was at the point that he was going to e-mail me and as he did not have the beanies as stated for the agreed trade and also because he said that he had sold mine he agreed that he would e-mail me and i simply said "yes, i hope we can resolve this little mishap without having to take things futher" and i said this to both him and his father...so now i am just waiting for an e-mail from bill so we can work out a trade to the simaler value of the original. i will keep you posted on how things go and hopefully justice will be done. thanx trudy and thanx to all the people who decided to take some action!

Complaint filed by: Debs@woodburyside.freeserve.co.uk

I first encountered him when he replied to one of my ads on Beaniemom. I was looking for Sting for a friend, he said he had two different generation Stings plus one with two tails!! However, we agreed a trade 1:1 for the 'least costly' Sting with a Britannia. Before that trade was received, during the emails between us I discovered he had 'available' some other goodies. As I was thinking of ceasing collecting, I thought I might as well trade for some of the really old ones he had to offer for a heap of Brits/Maples I had for trading (as I felt I wouldn't be needing them for future trading). Well, as I said in my earlier email, the tally amounted to 11 Maples, 9 Brits, 1 Germania and 1 Twigs Buddie - for that I was hoping to get the Sting for the first trade, Seamore, Splash, Flash, Tank, Tusk and Tuck (for a second trade) and then NHT Bronty, Web, Peking and Bubbles for a third trade. What was infuriating for me was that many of these beanies were for friends, but I had put up the Brits/Maples for the trade and would have got them back when the goodies came!! Ha! These deals were contracted on 8th, 10th and 13th September. I sent 5 separate boxes over three different days. He alleges he only every received the first Britannia that was traded for the Sting - he told me he received that on the 5th October (a month later). I subsequently wrote to the US Postal Inspection Service and the local PA Post Office - but as yet I am surprised I have not even had an acknowledgement of my letters. I wrote as Bill was claiming he had never received his parcels - and I certainly didn't receive his!! I don't know what is to be done about this - nothing I suspect as far as I am concerned regarding what I have lost! Even at face value the beanies I have lost amount to quite a lot. Not to mention postage etc. I have to say that I have made well over 100 trades - mainly to the US - and this is the only one to have gone 'wrong'. It would of course be the biggest one I ever did as well!! I would also mention that I use Beaniemom as my main source of trade enquiry and have always been pleased with the response. As a rider to all the above, I later posted an ad looking for Garcia - and had a reply from someone called 'Kathy' whose email address was tyrrific@hotmail.com>. It appeared that she had been scammed by someone called 'William' in PA. I thought this sounded familiar. Anyway as the emails progressed - I began to smell a rat. I looked on ebay feedback using her email address and found - Malie!! So he obviously uses other names and email addresses!! He was probably trying to work out what I was doing about the bad trade - who knows. I DO know he was desperately trying to get hold of more Britannias/Maples and Germanias. I have copies of all my emails and I was going to get a copy of his ebay references (under bobenbeanie) but I was too late - as I see he has obviously closed down the facility to view them without referring to him. I also have Certificates of Posting for the parcels I sent to him. (Unfortunately I did not register or insure them, as I had never needed to do so with any parcels I had sent in the past.) I would dearly like to see something positive come out of all this, and would be most grateful if you could keep me in touch with what happens. I look forward to hearing from you.

I agreed on a trade with Bill the end of Dec. I sent my Beanie on Dec. 30th and he agreed to do the same. >From "delivery confirmation" he recieved my package on Jan. 3. As of now I have not recieved his. I e-mailed him last Fri. (Jan.7) informing him that I had not recieved it yet and asked if he had sent it etc. He returned my email stating that he had sent it and possible it was slow because of the hollidays. I now noticed that you are investigating trades with him and I am wondering if I should expect his Beanie at all? Could you give me any info? Thank you

I won an auction for an authentic Libearty on ebay on Oct. 4, 1999. The sellers user name was b-nee. Prior to the auction, I emailed the seller and asked if he was the original owner and if he would guarentee that the beanie was authentic and stand behind it. He stated that he was the original owner and that he would stand behind the beanie. I sent him a money order to Washington, PA 15301. I received the beanie on Oct.16 and immediately knew it was counterfeit. It fit all the descriptions of a counterfeit Libearty. After several emails back and fourth and my husband even speaking with him on the phone, he refused to return my money. He accused us of switching his authentic Libearty with a fake one. I have contacted ebay safe harbor and filed several complaints against him. Tomorrow I plan to file mail fraud charges against him and report him to the police here and in PA. I do not understand why if he has caused so much trouble that no one has done anything. If he is underage, why do his parents continue to let him on the computer? Lisa

BAD TRADER Bill Malie made a trade with me to ship out on the 28th of December. After the 5th of January I e-mailed him and ask him if he got his beanie, that I hadn't received mine and he wrote back. What is you confirmation number? I sent it and he now wont answer my e-mail. Teena

I have recently been involved in a trade with Bill Malie. I sent him a Britannia Buddy that was 100% mint and He was supposed to send me a Maple Buddy 100% Mint and he sent me the following 5 buddies Erin, Fuzz, Peking, Gobbles, Spinner. I am very disgusted and I have done lots of trades on this board. My email is angela@ptialaska.net. Please let me know if you have any way of contacting him. The funny thing is he did mail me something and he mailed it insured, but it is nothing that compares to my Britannia Buddy. I have tried to trace him down by phone but they said there is no such person by that name listed in the phone directory. Please let me know either way. Angela

I contacted the seller on 01/19/00 to ask whether the buddy had been shipped with no response in 7 days. I contacted nobid on 01/26/00 to find out that the seller had been banned for many complaints. I've just taken a moment to check all of the reports you have on Bill Malie and noticed that not one of those reports mentions his new email address or that he's selling BIG TIME on NoBidding.com AND he's back on ebay.com with the user id alakazam00. And yes his feedback is spotless thus far with +6. What prompted me to look him up was this: I'm a registered user on nobidding.com and was looking to purchase a Garcia. I answered an ad for a MWMTs Garcia which contained no mention of guaranteed authenticity, so I emailed the seller to outright ask if the Garcia was indeed authentic. I recieved a response from none other than Bill Malie (name is on email) saying that Garcia was guaranteed authentic. I've heard so much talk of this person on other websites that I decided to check out his refs which he said could be found on ebay. I then proceeded to NoBidding to check out his refs using the same user id but there were none listed. I clicked on his other items for sale and was astounded by his list. This guy is operating out of Wa., Pa. but when I proceeded to traderlist.com I tried finding him under the email address that he's now using but found that he isn't listed. It wasn't until I decided to check out his state that I found him and even then there's still no mention of his new email address nor user id. Please let me know if you'd be interested in seeing the email I recieved from Bill and I would be happy to forward it to you. Thanks for all of the help you provide traders and please stay around. Bill Malie finally fulfilled his end of our trade. I received a letter from the postal inspector's office and then contacted him again and he sent the item he owed me. I called his house and got his Mother who then was scolding him in the background. The postal inspectors office sent me a letter and one to him that gave him 45 days to resolve the issue. He obviously had received the letter but denied it and seemed anxious to settle. I guess the combination of the phone call and the inspector's letter did the trick. Randy Thank you very much for your help. Randy

UNFORTUNATELY MY CORRESPONDENCE WITH HIM WAS DELETED BUT I STILL HAVE A COPY OF THE MONEY ORDER FOR $935 THAT I SENT BILL MALIE FOR 12 MWMT QUALITY BEANIES. HE HAD RESPONDED TO A LOOKING AD THAT I PLACED ON THE BEANIE MOM SITE LAST FALL.AFTER MANY LETTERS AND THREATS...AND SPORADIC EVASIVE ANSWERS TO MY CONTINUED QUESTIONS... HE SHIPPED ME A BIG BOX WITH 99 COMMON BEANIES! ($3-$4 VARIETY..STINGER/ SPINNER/CHIP/BONGO/) NONE OF THEM WERE WHAT I ORDERED. (I HAD ORDERED FLASH/ SPLASH/ LEFTY/ RIGHTY/ CAW ETC.) I DID REPORT IT TO MY LOCAL POLICE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT.  IN CONVERSATION WITH HER I DISCOVERED THAT RUTH PERRYMAN WAS ALSO TAKEN IN BY HIM.....BUT FINALLY GOT HER MONEY BACK. HER CONTACT WITH HIM WAS ALSO AS A RESULT OF A LOOKING AD A FEW MONTHS LATER. UNFORTUNATELY WE HAD NOT COMPARED NOTES AT THAT TIME. SHE AND I BOTH WROTE TO HIM AGAIN NOT TO LONG AGO AFTER SHE FOUND OUT HE HAD NAILED ME. SHE THOUGHT HE MIGHT BE INTIMIDATED BY HER. NO RESPONSE FROM HIM TO EITHER OF US. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HIM BEHIND BARS AND WILL DO ANYTHING I CAN DO TO PUT HIM THERE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING.  AT THE TIME HE CHEATED ME HE HAD BEEN SUSPENDED BY EBAY...AND THEN SOME MONTHS LATER HE WAS BACK! I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHY THEY BANNED HIM....AND THEN REINSTATED HIM. HE USED THE NAME BOBENBEANIE AND ANOTHER NAME TOO....AND THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION AS TO WHETHER HE WAS "BILL" MALIE OR "JIM" MALIE. I AM ANXIOUS TO HEAR MORE...... I GAVE UP ON GETTING MY MONEY BACK.....ALTHOUGH I COULD SURE USE IT. I AM A 62 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND CURRENTLY OUT ON DISABILITY... AND HAVING A HARD TIME MAKING ENDS MEET. THAT LOSS REALLY HURT ME. GOOD LUCK!  LINDA LINDA KARPMAN BEST BUY BEANIES

Like I said ealier the Germania's were awesome once I recieved them after 4 months! I sid I ws going to buy from him again, well I will not be now! He himself gave me his credit site to see if my lst message came up, so far it has not. This man or kid does not know the beanie trading ethics! I do not think he has any morals! Update from skotrla@yahoo.com

After 10 months of struggling with Bill Malie and spending hours upon hours of trying to get my stuff back, Bill and I have finally resolved this issue after the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office got involved. He sent me (5) Sakuras to make up for the money he owed me, and after looking them over carefully, I am satisfied with their condition. As far as I am concerned, this issue is closed.

Bill, I called Shannon and let her know that the beanies were received with a voice message. The delay was a result of my busy schedule. I finally had a chance this evening to look the beanies over and verify that the condition is acceptable.

Thanks for writing to ask if I got my deal from Bill.  That's a joke. NOT ONE LETTER.  NOT ONE PROPER BEANIE.  NOT ONE PENNY! I HAVE HAD A YEAR WITH INCREASING POOR HEALTH and finally decided to totally stop aggravating myself about the whole situation and not waste any more time on a frustrating losing situation so I just dropped it.I have been dealing with Beanies for several years now and have, unfortunately, been ripped off from time-to-time......but never this badly or....by someone who it has turned out has gotten away with not only doing this to me but to a multitude of other people. I am 62 years old and at this point to sick to work...get some social security and try to make a few dollars with my beanie sales. A loss like this was extremely painful to me. If there is anything you can do to recoup any portion of this money it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. As I said...I finally gave it up as a lost cause that was just too upsetting to pursue any longer. Thanks,  Linda

I have to say, he did make good on what he owed me.His mother paid me back all the money that he took from me.It took awhile ,but I did get it back.he is a kid of 15 yrs old so I try to understand him.I have talked with him during the time perood when i was getting my money back from him.I also talked with his mother on the phone.I did get the impression that his parents might be apart of his little sceems sometimes but on the other hand I really don`t think so due to the fact that his mother did send me the money.Could be cause I filed charges on him through the post office and the computer crime unit. His parents are responsible for him,so you would think that they would make sure that he keeps himself straigt, which it is very possible they are by making him pay back everyone. Even though I did get my money back ,I would never do any dealings with him again Sandra

Bill has not made good on our deal. And I have just come to the point that I do not want to even deal with him. He sent me another email on July 13:

"I didnt send you a fake libearty, now get real and e-mail trudy at traderlist.com and let her know. Return the Libearty then!"

Bill was horrible to my husband and I both and I really want nothing more to do with him. The Libearty that he sent me was obviously fake: the fabric was totally wrong, the swing tag was wrong. He continues to say it was not fake yet refused to return my money. He accused me of switching his Libearty for a counterfeit one which I did not do. He did offer at one time to send me a Britannia Beanie. I took this offer as an admission of wrong doing. I have not answered any of his emails from that point and will not. I see no point in continuing to argue with him.I will gladly return his Libearty when he returns my money. I do not see a way out of this, because I believe even if I do return the Libearty and I get my money back that he will continue to harass me and say that I switched it. I believe Bill Malie is a crook and will one day end up in prison. Thanks for any help that you maybe able to give.  Lisa White

No, Bill did not meet his end of the trade/sale. He was supposed to mail me a XL LG. hippie and $30.00. Bill mailed me a box of beanies and buddies. I have no idea how he decided what to mail ! In no way was it even close to our agreement, but I decided that if I mailed them back I would not get ANYTHING from this looser, just more cost in shipping. He is the worst trader I have ever had the displeasure to have dealings with and I would highly recommend that ALL AVOID ! He only replies to emails that his father is in the hospital with a heart problem, or that he is having back problems. AND HOW DARE ANYONE COMPLAIN THAT HE HASN'T MAILED OUT ! Has he made good to ANYONE? I bet not!  PLMK how it goes. thanks, Julie Here is email where he says he got my end but has not mailed out his end.

No - Bill Malie has not sorted out my deal yet. My deal included Web, Bronty, Peking, Stink, Seamore, Splash, Flash, Tank, Tusk, Tuck and Bubbles. For that I had sent over a heap of Maples, Britannia, Germania and a Twigs Buddie - I received absolutely NOTHING and still have had nothing. If you can still put pressure to bear on him that would be wonderful. I have rather thought it was too difficult to chase from UK - but you may get better results for me being the right side of the pond. He claims he only ever received one of my parcels (I sent 5 altogether - from different post offices on different days) so I can't believe they ALL got lost. The one parcel he received was for the first deal we organised, which was a Sting for a Brit. However - as I say I have never had a thing from him, except cheeky emails asking if I want to trade some more!!! I would be grateful to hear if you have any success - I feel I am bashing my head against a brick wall!!  Kind regards  Debbie Robinson in Dorset UK

I have not received a refund from Bill Malie. I have been corresponding with him for the past 2 weeks . In the past 2 weeks he has offered to send me a sakura beanie IF I send him a further $30.00 on top of $30.55 that he has already got from me and just tonight I received an email from him saying that I was responsible for suspending his e-bay account. I dont even use E-Bay !!

I am not so much interested in getting my money back as I am about getting what I paid for. Which was the COMPLETE 2000 beanie baby collection. I think you can see why I want the set more than I want the money back. I have all my correspondence with him as well as a copy of the cashed money order that was originally sent to him. Please let me know what else you need me to do.   Janet Michelmore

Agent Render from the Attorney General's Office got in touch with me and he says that Bill Malie sent him a cheque for $100 in connection with my transaction with him. (I sent him a Libearty, and he was supposed to send me Garcia and Kiwi, I think - it's so long ago now.) Agent Render said he had sent this to me, but I haven't received it yet. I have told Agent Render that no matter how much Bill Malie protests, and says he has turned over a new leaf, the fact remains that he is a scammer and I would not consider giving him a good reference. Also, $100 is not really recompense for a Libearty beanie, but it will be better than nothing. But I do not consider that he has "made good" on the deal.

Agent J.. Render has an e-mail address:   jrender@attorneygeneral.gov

Snail Mail address is:
Agent James A. Render,
Bureau of Consumer Protection,
Office of Attorney General,
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,
Pittsburgh Regional Office,
6th Floor, Manor Complex,

Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
Tel: (412) 565-5135

My case number (complaint against Bill Malie) is: C-001591-2000

I did pass on Agent Render's name and address to another girl that got in touch with me. He says just to pass on details of anyone else who has been scammed by Bill Malie.  Hope this helps!  Marian.

I didn't know his name until I finally started doing more thorough checking. I had an ad on Smart Collecting June 21 to trade a complete set of (9) Beanie Kids for a Britannia Buddy. I got a reply from a Phantasmo Inc. - 1963 S. Main St. - Washington, Pa. 15301. When I requested references, he sent me a very long list of personal e-mail addresses as references. The first one gave me a positive feedback on him, and unfortunately, I didn't check further. I mailed the Mint Beanie Kids to him on June 22, 2000. After 2 weeks, when no Britannia arrived, I sent repeated e-mails requesting a reply. To this day, Nothing! The mail isn't returned, so he must still be getting mail at that address. I've reported him to as many boards as I could find, but because of a serious illness in my family, have been unable to do any more until now. I had planned to contact the Washington, Pa. District Attorney's office as soon as I get a chance. Also, I plan to file a report with the US Post Office. Please let me know if you have any kind of class action in progress. I would certainly like to participate. If I can help in any way, please let me know. Sincerely,  Carolyn Born

Comments: I received an unsolicited email from a BAD TRADER today saying,

"Authentic Royal Blue Peanut - 3rd gen. hang, 1st gen. (1995) tush. Asking Price - $1,500.00. Shipping Info - by USPS, $11.00 (insurance and signature confirmation) Peanut has been here for nearly 3 years, and its original owner was our Aunt, who sold it to us. We are looking to sell the wonderful beanie now. We guarantee you will be happy when Peanut arrives at his new home, wherever you are. We hope that you to treasure him, as we have for nearly 3 years. Please e-mail us back, with an offer, if $1,500.00 is to much for you. Thanks so much."  They did not include their name (a sure sign of someone who is trying to scam you) but I found them on your site as a BAD TRADER. I just wanted to warn others out there that they are sending emails trying to sell a Peanut Beanie for $1500. HAPPY BEANIE HUNTING everyone! :o) ~ Esther

Bill Malie contacted me several weeks ago about a posting I had made on beaniemom. I thought I had recognized the name from the beaniemom site, so I was hesitant to send my beanies. I requested him to ship first (was supposed to be 2 nipponias) and of course he didn't. Thank goodness that I went with my instinct and did not ship. We are so grateful for you checking into bad traders and trying to keep the beanie boards honest. Thanks again, Elke

Comments: WARNING!! New tactic by this crook, BILL MALIE. He has a filed postal fraud claim against me when there was never any transaction or even the most remote possibility of one. I traded with him a LONG time ago when he just had a few bad marks against him and knowing that I made him ship first, which he did. The beanies arrived, were authentic so I sent him some beanie cards, which was our agreed on trade. After that, any time he has contacted me I have blocked that e-mail address from him, but he keeps getting new ones. I have responded to the letter I received from the postal authorities and have also sent them the web locations of all his public scamms to others plus I printed out his "bad traders" page (20 pages) and mailed that as well. This stems from his responding to a post I placed on the trade boards saying I would trade chinooks for Buckingham or Sakura Buddies. He wrote me and said he had 6 of each, yeah and I have the next 12 beanie bears in hand that TY doesn't even know about!! Of course I recognized his e-mail address so I just played along with him for a while and told him "sure I'll trade with you, you send me a few Buckingham and Sakura Buddies and if they arrive and are real, I'll send you a few chinooks". He didn't go for this, LOL. I still have all of our messages so he can't deny any of it. Once I was through toying with him I told him I wouldn't trade with him if his stuff was FREE. I am checking with the postal authorities to see what we can get him on for filing a FALSE postal fraud claim. BILLY BOY, YOU'RE A LOSER. I have the money and the time, and your tactics, scams, and lies will not go unpunished.

Complaint filed by: debu@wwdb.org (debu)

I, unfortunately, bid on one of his Ty trade auction offerings on November 8, 2000. After months of back and forth nonsense, I told him I would not give up trying to recover my money or the two Beanie Buddys I had paid him for. I told him I had every intention to sue him if possible, contact the authorities in his town, or any other (legal) option I could come up with including mail fraud. I had his signature endorsed on the back of my US Postal money order along with his message stating that he did not remember ever receiving my money order. I didn't care how much it would cost me, it was the principle of the matter that made me so angry. I have been very busy and had planned on going to our courthouse on Monday, March 19th; when on Friday, March 16th I received his package containing the two Beanie Buddys I had purchased. They appeared to be legitimate, however, I'm no expert. I will take a closer look to make sure they are not fake. They were in good condition with the exception that they had a light smell of cigarette smoke. He emailed me and asked that I let you know I received them. That is why I questioned the reason. I would never have purchased from him had I known about his ratings. Unfortunately, I purchased from him on Ty trade when he did not have a rating history. No ratings were posted for him. I had experienced only positive trades and nice people on Ty, I was very trusting and naive. After four long months, I feel very lucky to have received my Ty Buddys. I am not as enthusiastic about bidding on Ty trade. It is the only auction I have participated in and I really thought it would be a "safe" auction. I definitely learned much from this experience with a bad seller.   Thank you,  Deborah

I am writing to find out on what to do. I purchased a couple of beanies on tyrade from the seller -- bestbuybeanies. I am going to try to make this simple as possible. I wrote him and it took him three days to contact me about payment info. That should've been my first clue that it was not going to be good. But this was the first time I had used any type of auction site at all. It took a month before I received the beanies and then on top of that, he sent ones that I did not even win. The ones I was supposed to have received were a Sparky and a Squealer. The ones he sent were Sniffer and a Squealer. The Squealer had writing on the tags that were supposed to be "autographs". He explained to me that he got two auctions confused and sent the wrong ones to the wrong people. The only thing is, I went back into his auctions that were ended and still going on and none had anything close to what he was telling me. There was not even ones that were seperate for these two items. I then requested my money back and to no avail have not received to this day. I have sent numerous emails and he will not answer any of them. The last one I received from him was on Feb.26th telling me that he sold 24+ items on ebay and would send my money after the checks cleared with his bank. That is the last time I have heard anything at all from him. If you want me to, I can forward that last message of his over. I can give you his name emails that he used before and the one he is supposedly using now. His name is Bill Malie. His first email that he used was bestbuybeanies@phantasmo.com. Then he contacted me after awhile and said he was not using that one any more and to send messages to him at ebayer2001@hotmail.com. I am also including his home address for you also. It is as follows:Bill Malie

1963 SOUTH MAIN ST

WASH, PA 15301.

Unfortunately, I do not have a phone number. I have even emailed him to let him know I was going to contact this site and he still didn't answer to that one either. If there is anything that you could do to help, I would truly appreciate it...I'm sure unhappy that he did not want to work this out without going through this. I told him that all I wanted was my money refunded (which is $44.15--maybe should be more after having to wait this long) and he just won't respond to my emails or anything. Please let me know if there is anything that could come out of this. Thank you very much for your time in reading this letter.

P.S. If there is anything else that you might need, that I left out, please let me know.

July 12, 2001, I won an EBay auction consisting of a 1oz., Gold Maple Leaf coin. I mailed a USPS money order for $283.50 to Bill Malie, Washington, PA., 15301-8895. Two days later I received this website regarding Bill's nature of cheating EBay buyers. I waited two weeks for him to send the coin. Nothing. I emailed him and relayed this site. He said he sent the coins to someone else my mistake and would refund the money ASAP. Another two weeks have passed and he has not taken any action. Bill has even gone as far to say he has sent the money via PayPal but I have proof that he has not. I have already filed an action with both the PA's and CA's Attorney General's Office. I found the following website a very helpful tool to locate and contact any U.S. Government office. (www.govspot.com) If anyone wants to email me regarding this trader, feel free to do so. Hello, My name is Deborah. I am one of the more recent eBay bidders that Bill Malie perpetrated his scams on. I won two of the eBay auctions that Malie/Phantasmo had posted. I sent this teenage criminal a Check for $54.03 on July 17, 2001. I always put it in a thank you card to start the communication off well. I waited to receive my merchandise that he promoted as Roman Classic Seraphim. I waited patiently and emailed Malie informing him I have not received the merchandise. He finally emailed and said he sent all of his angels out already but if I would promise him I did not receive them he would resend the order but I must promise first. I assured him I did not receive it and urged him to take the shipping number and have the company track it. I even offered to do it myself. After multiple excuses he said he was shipping the angels that day. Well you guessed it almost two weeks passed  INTERRUPTED

ying that I had been informed that my check had cleared and I still did not receive my goods, I even offered my help if he needed it. He responded by telling me he was shipping it on that day. The merchandise came and much to my dissapointment not only were they not what I bid on but they were dirty and certainly not from the Roman company. I immediately emailed him telling him I was returning the merchandise and respectfully requested a refund. I went to the postoffice, taped up the box and blackened my address and wrote return to sender as the postmaster instructed. Malie acknowledged he received the shipment back and refused to send my refund as he agreed to by saying that the package was refused by me. I assured him I had opened him and what I was instructed to do and described in detail the contents of the box, the name on the bottom of the tiny figurines, the fact that they were black from the newspaper and that on the bottom of the box was a clear zippered bag. He ended with "Don't know what to tell ya!! Since then I have continued to respectfully request a refund and got hold of Agent Render thanks to all of you and this wonderful site. I am determined that this person does not get away with his crimes. This last email I received tonight called me a B****. I will continue to follow through as I saved all the correspondence. I have contacted eBay by phone and made the girl much to her objection pull up the traderlist and told her she will kick this upstairs and how dare eBay continue to support this criminal knowing that they have been informed of his dishonesty and crimes. I know the amount does not sound very large but some of it is from a friend and I feel obligated to give her back the money in spite of his lack of conscience. I will end up losing $108.06 after I return the money not to mention all the long distance phone calls I have to make to handle this as you all must have had to do. I am sorry for all your losses. If anyone would like to email me I would really love to hear from you. Sorry about the length of the complaint.

Deborah

This is what the crook sold me in auction on Ebay in June for $153.: He advertised as

"ONE OF A KIND Authentic (comes with a C.O.A) 1 Million Dollar Bill that was made as a PROTOTYPE from the U.S. Mint 9 years ago - Framed in a oak frame, mint and crisp. THIS IS NOT fake, cheap paper money like you buy at the Dollar Tree! This was actully made for real, by the U.S. Mint - You can not actully get $1,000,000.00 for this, because if you could, YOU sir/madam, would not be reading this right now :0) This is worth a good bit, but I will let you, the bidders decide. THERE ARE ONLY 3 OF THESE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! S/H is free"

When it arrived it was anything but the item stated. This note was not made by US mint but was designed and printed by the American Bank Note Company. No telling how many of these were made. He also got the second high bidder to pay to his credit card company over $300.00 for the same item plus two other items. He never got anyone of the items. But did get his money back from the credit card company. Don't believe anything this jerk and crook tries to sell you. He will not refund my money as of this date. Did manage to get this crook off E-Bay. No telling what name he is registered with by now. Beware!!!! Cecil

Comments: Bid with BUY IT NOW high end items on our and associates' User ID's. Wrote us immediately that he paid via Billpoint and rushed us to post Feedback on eBay on his behalf and ship items immediately. Billpoint advised us one day later none of his eCheck could be processed.
Typical Internet Fraud/criminal Bidder's behavior....
Pray that no Seller falls into his traps.

Made three bids on ebay via 'Buy-It-Now' on auction numbers 1653803091, 1653634747 & 1652694166. The user id he used is Hazuka (NARU'd). All three were paid right away by e-check thru BillPoint, and all three e-checks bounced .He refuses to response to any of my e-mails. I rcvd an e-mail from BillPoint stating....

"The electronic check payment for the item listed below was unable to be processed. We recommend that you contact the buyer to determine why this payment could not be processed and to arrange for another method of payment, if appropriate. Until you have arranged for another method of payment, YOU SHOULD NOT SHIP THIS ITEM"

All sellers, beware of this type of Fraud, had the product shipped (which I haved learned from past experience, never ship without confirmed payment) I would have been cheated by this person. Beware as he can try under a different user name.

You might be able to help...? I found your address associated to a message regarding Bill Malie at http://www.beaniemom.com/colltrade.html.

In dealing with Bill Malie, I've lost $1,030 on a computer, in which Bill impersonated the seller on ebay. I've filed with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) and I was wondering what I should do next...? I would appreciate any assistance.  Thanks.   John Baluka

Bill Malie used a email nme of wmalie@gotclass.com   I notified ebay and they will do nothing to stop him only supply information to the law. I have contactedthe IFC and the FBI and the attorney general of Pennsylvania. Yes i saw the site of all the people he has ripped off. I just wish i had seen it before i had sent money to Bill Malie.  I sent him a money order for 200. canadian  Ebay  will not do anything because what happened was i bid on a item and someone else won it, about 1 minute later Bill sends a email saying the high bidder did not have funds, would i be interested in it.So he lowered the price and said he would pay shipping cost so he would not have to relist it. Well i fell for this and sent the money order to him.He is known to ebay and they will not remove him.Strange as far as i know he was kicked out twice ebay has been informed that i have reported him to the law. I also thought there was a age limit to buy and sell on ebay, if there isn,t maybe there should be. Take care and have a good day,   Kevin West
