I entered into a deal with Connie Risk, 11 Laguna Pointe Way, Kissimmee, Florida, 34743, AKA Firelady87@aol.com , through the website WebSwap.

On April 23 she initiated the swap offering me $75 for Coral (MWMT), which I accepted. I then emailed her (after an offer is accepted the site gives the person's home and email addresses) to find out how she wanted Coral sent and when. She stated that she wanted it to be sent on Friday, April 28, which was the day she would send the money order (which I stated I wanted as she did not use PayPal).

I sent Coral by Priority Mail with delivery confirmation on April 28, and, according to the USPS website, she received it on May 1, 2000, at 9:50 a.m. I emailed her asking when the money order had been sent and when I could receive it. She answered on May 2, stating that the money order would arrive by Saturday (May 6) at the latest.

On May 6 I emailed her stating that the money order had not arrived and wondered when it had been sent. I emailed her again on May 8 with the same question, with no reply to either email. On May 9 I did a computer search for her name and found it on a bad trader list (www.Dustie.com/badtrader) with a complaint from a person from 8/13/99 (from Scotland, no less).

I emailed support at WebSwap to alert them to this fraud as it is stated in the rules of the site that this is not allowed (obviously!). They also allow you to rate your trading partners, and I have posted a bad trader alert there so that others won't be treated the way I have been (there is one other person who is also waiting for payment from her). I have not yet posted an alert here, but intend to do so after I finish this to you.

I waited to rate her poorly because I hoped that she might send payment, but she hasn't done so, and I'm sure that now that I've given her a bad rating she won't send payment out of spite (but who knows).

I'm sure that she has "stolen" Coral from me and I want to make sure that no one else gets taken by this person, who obviously has a long history of doing this. I should have done the web search before agreeing to the deal, but I've been trading on the web for about two years now and have never had this kind of problem before.

I would appreciate any advice you could give me!!
Thank you very much.  June Seamonson

Update: May 24, 2000

Connie sent Coral back...I received it today in the condition it was sent. I am very glad this whole thing is resolved (at least for me...I'm not sure if the FBI is still interested in her or not!!). I am going to repost Coral and hopefully find a new home for her.

Thank you so much for all your help...I'm not sure what exactly gave Connie a conscience in my case, but I'm sure that your intervention and advice helped a lot. It's good to know that you're out there watching out for us!!

I had traded with Connie once before I had the problem trade and that one went all right although she took her time mailing the item.  The seconed trade was a large trade, Connie received my package but I did not receive hers. After 2 months of my sending her e.mails asking her what was wrong I managed to find out her phone number and I started calling her. Connie promised me on 4 seperate occasions that she would send the goods and months later I received part of the trade, I called twice more but I gave up on the rest of the stuff ever arriving.
I hope you manage to sort things out and stop her from ripping anyone else off.
Best regards, Ray

This bidder never responded to my emails after winning my auction. I never found out her name or where she lived. She just did not respond. That is why I left her negative feedback. Thanks for doing what you do to help warn people of these bad traders.
