Protect Yourselves!
When you purchase a beanie from someone, or trade for one, please request that the seller/trader put a string through the tush tag of the beanie and fasten the ends of the string with a folded over return address label stuck to itself and the ends of the string. (The kind you have to moisten work best, but if self-stick is used, it should be reinforced with clear tape.) Before you ship a beanie to anyone, please do the same thing. If for any reason the transaction has to be reversed, you and the other trader will be assured that the same beanies that were received will be returned IF the string and label are intact. When purchasing or trading, also ask the other trader for the letters and numbers inside the tush tag of the newer beanies. Keep records of all conversations, and a copy of all auctions.

Counterfeit Billy 7
. It has ORANGE fireworks instead of the red fireworks. The ty heart tag is a very very bad copied 5th generation ty heart tag and a very bad 7th generation tush tag ( VERY BAD HOLOGRAM) (The typical silver blob counterfeit type). The tush tag word Billionaire is written with a small "b" (billionaire 7) The inside of the tag is not numbered. Ty's counterfeit signature was in red ink

The authentic Billy 7 is signed and numbered with black ink and are numbered from 1 to 612.The ty heart tag is a 12th generation ty heart tag and a 13 generation tush tag. The tush tag has Billionaire 7 with a capital "B".

Alert filed by TrueBlueNews@aol.com

Be careful when purchasing beanies with the wrong button on the chest. There are people selling beanies that have removed the original button and put a different button in its place. They are calling these tampered with beanies "oddities" when they are not.

Additional Information from Peggy Gallagher:
The counterfeit alpha numeric Nipponia serial numbers discovered are:
4RPAGDX3, 4LDHGRAE, and 4RDAE9P04

Message from Peggy Gallagher concerning counterfeit Maple.

The distinguishing marks are very difficult to detect! Tell your readers to make sure the Maple have the Canadian tush tag!! Also there is alot of counterfeit Maples with # 474 inside the tush tag within the Chinese chop mark. There may also be authentic Maples with this number but we unfortunately have seen the majority with 474 as counterfeit. They are always MINT, Museum Quality and look like they have only been in the market place for a short time. The counterfeit tags and counterfeit Maple are excellent but the white fabric is too white and a slightly stiffer fabric.
Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Peggy Gallagher

Message from True Blue Beans:

Please be aware that there are some individuals tampering with the buttons/pins on various beanies. The most common one right now is the MasterCard II Anniversary Bear. Not only are some people turning the nose upside down, they are also turning the button on the chest upside down. Please use caution when buying beanies with upside down buttons.

Comments: In this gift giving season there are PLENTY of counterfeit Beanies for sale at eBay. Sadly there are plenty of buyers willing to pay big bucks for obvious counterfeits. Over $300 for a royal blue peanut with a 1993 copyright date, clearly stated or easily told to you if you ask the seller. FAKE. Do your homework. It's easy to find out that this only should say 1995 and many of the counterfeits have the wrong date.

Colored teddies? Few real ones but some show tush tags that are lacking the period and comma after Ty Inc. Lacking the extra space between in & China and other flaws. Clearly counterfeit if you research. Plenty willing to pay well over a hundred for those fakes. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. It's not that hard to run a search and see what the rare beanie you want should look like.

A first bid wins or any other such nonsense on a Beanie auction is a sure sign you will get a fake. You WON'T get a REAL #1 bear for $200. Older beanies that are not authenticated? Think about it. Would you sell a real one for under a hundred if it's worth 3 or more times that? VERY rarely are there authentic ones without authentication. Take a chance and chances are you will get a fake. For $10-20 I can understand but how many of you want to throw away 100+ on a worthless counterfeit? I see it several times a week on eBay.

Be careful! Know what the collectible you are paying big bucks for should look like. Ask questions of the seller. Too many uneducated buyers are paying big bucks for fakes on eBay. If you actually WANT fakes go to yahoo. They are all over and much cheaper.

Important Message from True Blue Beans:

Contrary to popular belief, a "V" seam on the back of an Old Face Teddy Bear head does NOT guarantee that it is an authentic Ty product. Several counterfeits with these "V" seams have been popping up lately. Most have the German/Korean swing tag with a Korean tush tag but some do have the China tush. In a picture these beanies can fool even the best. To protect yourself please consider using the True Blue Beans Escrow Service. ( Welcome to Becky's True Blue Beans ) If the seller refuses then they may be hiding something. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Would you please alert your readers we found a new counterfeit Buckingham serial number 40LTGRFS. )O:

We are also giving away free Ty products as a gift to random Authentication submissions! Happy Holidays and Good Luck!

Sincerely, Peggy Gallagher Enterprises, Inc.

ALERT!! October 15, 2002
Message from True Blue Beans:

Pat,

True Blue Beans has been in receipt of several dozen of the beanies that are in question on the auction sites right now. Today alone we recieved 99 of each : Libearty, Bucky, Bubbles, 97 Holiday Teddy, Radar, Tabasco and Sting. All were counterfeit Ty products. These beanies seem to be coming from North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and surrounding states. There have been reports of them in Illinois as well. We suspect they will spread to all areas of the country in rapid time.
Best Regards,
Karen

Message from Mediator, Pat

Everyone please remember when you have your beanies authenticated, ALWAYS request that the TAGS as well as the Beanies be authenticated. There are many counterfeit fourth generation tags around. It isn't just the very old retired beanies that may be counterfeit with fake tags...some of the newer retired beanies have counterfeit tags too. (Sakura for example.)

Some authenticators may only check the beanie thinking that there are no newer retired beanies with fake tags, but there are.

Over a year ago two men were arrested for selling fourth generation fake beanie tags. They had hundreds of them.

Please spread the word.
