I had certainly hoped I would never need to write another note to you of this nature. I traded with a Dakota Hott of dakota1230@hotmail.com also know as GATESMETRO2@aol.com. He gave Calvin_Sears@hotmail.com as a reference and had a positive reference under Dakota1230@hotmail.com on e-bay. Later found GATESMETRO2@aol.com and has a -1 on e-bay. He has created the Calvin_Sears. I have discovered that he is a 13 year old computer wiz living with mom and Grandmother. He has neighbors called Calvin Sears who have no knowledge of this e-mail or of reference. I sent mwmt Germania Buddy and Britannia Buddy. He did not send his end of the trade. After much back and forth he sent supposed trade. It was a peace beanie rather than the 3 exclusives agreed on. I have asked for him to send mine back. I called the neighbors and found the above information and will be calling his Mother and Grandmother tonight. He advertised on Smartcollecting, I have written to there newsletter warning them to beware of this trader. Is there anything else I can do or should do. Is there anything illegal about setting up a e-mail to falsify references? Being that he is 13, I imagine I will be out of luck but I think it is important to get him off the computer doing this kind of stuff. Thank for any information. Gail

His mother goes by S S Pittman. The trade was for Buckingham, Nipponia, and Chinook for my Britannia Buddy and my Germania Buddy. We were both to mail on Tuesday, October 10. I did, he didn't. I began checking his reference as he used Dakota@hotmail.com on the trade but would instant message me on his GATESMETRO2@aol.com. When I went back to e-bay to see if there was feedback under GATESMETRO2 I found negative feedback. I wrote Calvin_Sears@hotmail.com and asked for more information and told him that the trade appeared to be going bad. I received e-mail from Calvin_sears signed by Dakota. Went to the white pages on the web and found a Calvin Sears in Bossier. Called them to find if they had e-mailed or if they know Dakota. Spoke with Mrs. Sears. She said Dakota was in the 7th grade, approximately 13 years old living with his mother and Grandmother and that they (Grandmother and mother) would defend him and believe him. We called Dakota and the mother would not talk with us. The neighbor, Mrs. Sears had contacted them to find out what was going on. We spoke with Mrs. Sears a couple more times. They do not have that e-mail address and apparently she found Dakota using their computer which Dakota said Mr. Sears had cleared. Mr. Sears apparently had not. When I was unable to get Dakota to respond to my e-mails, I went back to Smartcollecting to see if he was posting again. He was. I wrote and asked if he would like to extend the trade and mail all at once. My goal was to get him to mail. We agree to a second trade. He asked me to agree to mail on Saturday. I did not. He checked without giving delivery confirmation number. I became angry with him and told him he either needed to mail back my buddies, mail the original trade or mail the trade last agreed upon. Send me dc number since he already had my buddies. He wrote me many times to see if I had mailed. Finally sent me a dc number and then bugged me several times to see if I had mailed. Said I would when I knew what he mailed. He mailed a peace beanie. I knew I was in trouble before that but still hoped I would get him to mail. Suggested he would be dealing with mail fraud if he did not take care of the situation. Got nowhere.  Hope this covers what you need. We contacted the police in Bossier last night.We also called Dakota's home and we were threatened with harassment. Said to contact their attorney. We called back to ask their attorneys name. The mother would not talk to us at all but my husband talked with Dakota. Did not get anywhere. The neighbors had already gone to them trying to find out what was going on. I will e-mail Dakota again. My husband and I are both concerned that Dakota would intercept any mail sent to his mother even certified. Since I copied the instant message where he admitted he had not mailed I will remind him of that and see if it helps. I have grave doubts that anything will faze him. Dakota is very bad news. I don't know where to start with Dakota. He found me on Ebay, I put Sakura up for bid. He won. Then he started to call and call. He adopted my family (my mistake). During  our transaction he called my work (a number I had never given him), stating it was an emergency. I wasn't there until his third call, and I told him NEVER to call my work again. He wanted to give me a credit card #, but not use it and send Sakura. Of course I did not do that. I  received his MO 3day express mail. Then sent Sakura to him. More phone calls to us, very late hours. He asked if he could use me as a reference, I said no problem. Now we get a little touchy. Lyndelle, Emailed and called saying, a kid named Dakota was trying to use my references on Ebay. I will  forward those to you. He left me bad feed back. I did write alot of letters to Ebay and it was finally removed. Then when I knew he was in school, I talked to an adult male. At the Metroflex#, he said he would talk to him. Since then, it started 8-5-2000, he started calling again. Last month. We didn't pick up the phone. His messages were how sorry he was and could we be friends. Stay away and net work with other people as we are doing now. OH I forgot the threats he send too. I hope this helps you.

Susan at(msfwlr@aol.com.  this is to let you all know where things stand. i contacted smart collecting (where she/he saw my ad and had posted one of her/his own). i  gave ron at smart collecting all of the email addresses, phone numbers and mailing addresses that i had for dakota. i called dakota this morning and  got the secretary at their home business....who told me that dakota was a young boy and yelled at me for calling him. dakota then emailed me and told  me to stop harrassing them. i told her that i was reporting her (god it sure sounds like a girl). dakota told me that she would bring a lawsuit against  me for defamation of character. i sorta laughed, said what i had to say about what she was doing and hung up on her.....it. then i posted on the a-1 traders caution list and notified samrt collecting that dakota had and ad on there and what she was trying to do to us!! in her trade with me and my friend, she used 2 different email addresses: GATESMETRO2@AOL.COM, DAKOTA1230@HOTMAIL.COM (which she says is someone else that she trades with regularly?) she claims to have a REFERENCE HANDLER that takes care of all her feedback. his email address is CALVIN_SEARS@HOTMAIL.COM.  anyone else notice all the hotmail addresses????? i am going to report dakota to aol tonight and see if i cant get her kicked off there too. smart  collecting has suspended all three of the above email addresses.....so if anyone knows of any others that dakota is using, please let me know. We sure do appreciate you time & effort.

i had a speckles up for trade on CN and he got in touch with me wanting to trade an indonesian peace, i told him i has feedback on ebay, when he checked my feedback, he also put in a phone # request and got my # he called, more than once, telling me how had he needed speckles and assured me that he did have an indonesian peace, i thought he was a nice lady, i mailed speckles to him, i heard nothing in a few days and decided to get a phone request on him, thats when i found that he has given my someone elses feedback to check, the lady that i talked to was very mad, and had traded with him before, thats how he got her feedback, she gave me his home address, i then called and talked to someone else that lives in the house, they told me that he was a 13 year old boy!! i have talked to other people that have left him bad feedback and he e-mails and calls them with threats and leave them bad feedback with lies, so i chose not to ruin my feedback by leaving him bad feedback. needless to say, i never received any peace bear. i hope he is banned from all sites. thankyou so much for listening.

i contacted you a few days ago about dakota hott. he is a 13 year old boy who contacted me about a trade. he has hurt several other people and tried to scam me and a friend of mine. i have attached my previous notes for reference. but i need some serious help now. he sent me instant messages tonight pretending to be his mom. he said that he wanted to talk to me about what his son was doing and told me to call. when i did, dakota answered the phone. first he pretended to be his mom. when i recognized his voice, he sent me an Instant message that said "GOT CHA" and hung up on me. then he sent me at least 20 more messages daring me to call back.....calling me a chicken and saying that i better remove any negative feedback about him or i would regret it. i blocked him from being able to instant message me again. .he also sent me a computer virus that i just now got rid of. i talked to 3 other people that he did this to.him as well. he sent them viruses and threats too. one woman had to change her phone number because he was calling her everyday and threatening her family. i just want all of this documented with you so that if he posts negative feedback for me, it can be removed. i have worked so hard to build a good reputation. i have over 375 positive feedbacks altogether and i just dont want that to be ruined. if you have any suggestions for me, please let me know. . he needs help. thank you so much for listening.

I am proceeding with mail fraud against Dakota Hott, GATESMETRO2@aol.com. Dakota had emailed a person at SmartCollecting claiming that I was scamming him. He wrote that he had sent a Chinook to me and never received my Britannia beanie, Dragon beanie, or Lefty buddy. I sent all 3 items through USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation (0310 2990 0005 3446 6770). My package is confirmed to be delivered on October 6th. Dakota did confirm that he received my package in an instant message conversation. Can you please help me in this matter? I have emails and IMs I can send you if needed. I appreciate anything you can do. This is email that I sent to him on Oct 24 and IM conversation i had with him on on Monday evening (after receiving the package supposedly containing Chinook-even though there was only a Valentino beanie). I also emailed him with two choices for action: 1. Send me a Chinook, 2. Send me a money order for the cash value of my beanies -$65. He has not responded to the email yet.

Someone who said they were the family's lawyer called this morning.This lawyer is for their business and personal  things.The lawyer said," Dakota will not be trading anymore,and he will be sending back your stuff." My mom told him that he was selling and trading my stuff. After my mom said that the Lawyer hung up on her. Dakota is only 13. His Mom recently lost the business and is going through a divorce." ( that is what he said) All the Lawyer said to mom was, that Dakota is no longer doing things on the internet and was sending all my things back.The lawyer also said for us to never call back down there again. I have proof that I mailed it and he has recieved all of it. I sent it Express mail so I would know when he recieved it. DAKOTA HAD BID ON A SPECKLES BEANIE IN AUGUST. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER IT HAD CLOSED AND STILL NO PAYMENT I E-MAILED HIM TO LET HIM KNOW PAYMENT HAD NOT ARRIVED YET, AND TO LET ME KNOW WHEN THE PAYMENT HAD BEEN SENT. I have been in a trade with dakota Hott. I sent him 3 clubby 3 sets for Nipponia Which I mailed on October 11, 2000. I have talked to him on the phone several times. He wanted me to send my collection to sell in his store. I decided not to. When I emailed asking when he shipped Nipponia. He said he was getting another shipment on Saturday. I waited. Nothing. Then he would not answer my calls or emails. I did receive an email finally today. He said that he shipped 3 weeks ago. I know he didnt. I just emailed him to send nipponia or return my 3 clubby 3 sets or send $100. I told him I will wait one week. What can I do now? Im sure he will not ship. I am surprised that he emailed me today. I was supposed to receive a Sakura. this trade was done over TWO WEEKS ago and i just emailed him recently to find out if he got any of my shipment and if he sent his. he replied saying:

after many days of anticipating the arrival of Sakura, i finally emailed him and got this response. I also suspected him of fraud and I found his name on the bad trader list and was horrified to see what he had done to many other traders. I had hoped it wouldn't happen to me, but it did. Hi!! I am in Canada and am having trouble with a trader in Bossier City, LOUISIANA. His name is Dakota Hott, I now understand he is 14 yr old boy with a very, very bad track record. He communicates to me mainly under XoAshley01OX@aol.com but also uses BeanieTrader @aol.com and BeanieGod2001@aol.com. So many people have e-mailed the past few days with their horror stories of him. I feel so stupid as this has never happened to me before.  I sent him 2 parcels......one on Nov 16, with a Logan, and he was to send me Kyoto in return. He says he received this but I have never received his Kyoto. Then on Nov 20 I sent him 2 more Logans, and a Buckingham Buddy , for which he was to send me America, Kirby, Unity Buddy, Rhine, and Peace Jingle. He claims he never received my package but I don't believe him, based on other stories I have read on the web about him. I have done lots of trading and have never had a parcel disappear. I of course I have never received a parcel from him!! We have communicated a lot the past few days----in one e-mail he asked what he owed me, almost admitting to some sort of fraud in a roundabout way. When I suggested how we could solve this, ie he should send back all that I had sent him, in both parcels, or he should send me what was originally promised,. he no longer seemed willing to send me anything!! I really need some advise--since I live in Canada, there is no mail fraud form I can get from our post office here. I made a trade with Dakota on June 1st, for Graf Von Rot for Reversed Red America & Radar; Nipponia Beanie & Pierre Bud for Reversed Red America; 3 scotland, 3 celebrations for 10 mom-e... I checked the delivery confirmation number that I sent to Dakota and it said that he received his beanies on June 3rd. I have yet to receive my beanies or a confirmation number.... It has been one lie after another. BEWARE OF THIS GUY!!!! I would appreciate any help the mediators can offer in this transaction.... thanks Jackie

Please everyone becareful of this person. I traded with him a month ago and realize that he likes to decieve people and rip them off. He lies and lies and lies. Whether you talk to him over the phone or get emails from him, he will straight up lie to you. If anyone has anymore information on this individual or anything that can be done to get my items back, plmk. Thanks for everyones cooperation and hope we can find a way to put him away for good.

I have a side business I run out of my house, Triangle Cards. I deal in Collectibles related to trading cards, autographs, costume cards, etc....I trade with many dealers from time to time. On this ocassion, I traded with Dakota Hott from Bossier City, La. We had done one trade in the past that went okay.  Anyway, we agreed on a trade worth $750 of goods. We were to ship each others goods out the same day. However, according to Dakota, he shipped mine a day (4-22-2003) after I sent his. He received my goods, I never received what he claims he sent me. He did send me some sales flyers and promo cards via priority mail with Del Confirm (cost $4.50). Problem is, the flyers and promos are only worth $1 at best. No more. Strange already. When confronted with, where are my goods? He tried to say they were on that Del Confirm. He finally said his Wife had mailed them same day, but did not insure them. A definite lie in my book. He even tried to say he has had many items stolen from his post office. More lies again.

After a week or so, with beating around the bush, he offered to send me a second package via USPS insured for $800. However, it would be empty and he would want me to say that they were Stolen out by the time I got the package. Thats mail fraud in my book. I turned him down and saved the email he sent me with above info. Among other emails.

Finally, he offered to send me a $50 card as a peace offering to buy him some more time. So, I gave him another week.

A funny thing happened during the 3 weeks this was going on. Out of the blue, I receive an email from another dealer in Louisiana. Shreveport according to the address he gave me. He said his name was Mark and he met me at a show in San Diego last year. He offer me some really good cards that only a few people would have. When I quizzed him how he really knew me, he didnt have the right answers. After 3 emails, he finally said his last name was Moser. Funny thing is, I already have a custoimer named Marc Moser from California. I feel this is Dakota in disguise. Let me get to the point, I played his game saying that I remembered him and all. Agreed on a trade. But, really didn;t send him anything until I got something from him. I asked my wife to open anything she had to sign for in front of the Postman, thinking he would send me an empty package. Guess what? That is exactly what I received. An empty padded envelope insured for $1000. Tony Sacarello

All of which is "negative" talk about "Mark". I actually kept most of the emails this "Mark" sent me. Including the "EMPTY" package he mailed me insured for $1000. Yes, empty.  You see, I knew he was Dakota in Alias all the time. Too many similarities. Plus, the real Marc Moser (Marc with a "c") has been my customer for over a year and he lives out West. Not in LA.   You may even decide to add this Mark Moser to the list of names for Dakota Hott. After all, I have the proof.      Tony Sacarello

This is probably a friend of his but there is no Mark Moser listed at that address. Also immediately upon placing the complaint from Tony on this page I received the below email from Dakota. I did try the cajuncallcollect@aol.com email address he had emailed me with but it was no longer current. I also linked Dakota and Mark another way with the emails from both of them proving they were one and the same.

I have now read on the boards that people have confused me with the now infamous online scammer Mark Moser. Not only are this alligations false and unjust but I was also scammed 3000.00 from this individual who has now skipped town on me and obviously other traders. I wish there was some way I could turn back time and never made the mistake of making a bad trade (trading items I never had in had but was suppose to then that deal fell through etc. etc.) but it did and I cannot change that. It is just unfair that people are making these accusations that I'm Mark Moser when he lived in another township even. Please post this on "my site" as soon as possible as I do not like looking worse than I already am.  -Dakota
