I e-mailed her about a trade on June 24th. She e-mailed right back, and we agreed to send the beanies out on June 26th. The trade was Lefty 2000 and Righty 2000 (mine) for Baby Boy and Baby Girl (hers). I e-mailed on the evening of June 26th to let her know that I mailed the beanies, and gave her the delivery confirmation #. She e-mailed on June 27th and told me she mailed the beanies, and asked what delivery confirmation was. I e-mailed back , explaining what it was. I haven't heard from her since. I've e-mailed every 2-3 days, and there's no response. In checking on the USPS website, with the delivery confirmation #, The package was accepted by USPS on June 26th, 2002 at 3:20pm in Duluth, MN 55806 (that would be me). The package was delivered at 10:07 am on June 29th, 2002 in Hobbs, NM 88240. This is where I sent my package and Heathers information:

Now, someone on the BBOT said that she had been in a car accident, and that her mom was completing all the transactions she had started. When I e-mailed the person for more info on that, I was ignored. Since I posted that Attention message on the BBOT, I've gotten a couple e-mails saying that they've been waiting 3-6 weeks for their packages too. One person told me that she started a trade in the beginning of June with Heather, and was told in June 14th that Heather had been in an accident. Another told me that there was a post on June 23rd, saying she was Heather's mom, and that Heather had been in an accident. If so, then why was she able to make a trade with me on June 24th? Along with others? Another thing that has bothered me about this is that this Donna person (supposedly Heather's mother), told one person Heather died on a Tuesday, me on last Thursday, then contradicted herself and said it was 2 weeks ago. Wouldn't you know of the date your daughter died?   Donna claims that she will ship my beanies out today, but I can't seem to get her to respond to me again, and I haven't been able to catch her online either. One thing someone suggested was to check the newspapers in that area for Heather's obituary. I checked the Hobbs News-Sun online, and called to confirm, that there hasn't been an obituary for Heather Winn within the past month. After calling directory assistance, there is no one named Heather Winn or H. Winn in Hobbs or the surrounding area. There is a Donna and Steve Winn, though. Here is that address:

While I was typing this, I had a thought...get the phone number for the Bagel Cafe. So, I called directory assistance again, and got the number. I called the Bagel Cafe, and asked for Heather Winn. I was told she wasn't working, and if I wanted to leave a message. I asked when she was working next. She said that she was Heather's aunt, and would see Heather after she got off of work to give her a message. So, I told her my name, and the reason I was calling. She was surprised, and apologized for Heather's behavior, and told me if I left my name and number, she would talk to Heather's father, Steve, and have him get a hold of me tonight. So, I left my name and number for him to get a hold of me, and will keep everyone aware of what is going on. Heather's aunt told me that she will for sure talk to Steve, and have him contact me, because kids these days need to learn the consequences of their actions. I asked how old Heather was, and found out she's just under 17. I told her that the site we trade on is for 18 and over, and she said that maybe her mom, Donna, is getting her on to trade. I told Heather's aunt that she's been telling everyone she died, but was contradicting the dates. She's alive and well.......

I just got off of the phone with Heather's dad, Steve, a bit ago. He has assured me that he didn't know any of this was going on, and wants to make every trade right. I have sent him everyones e-mail addresses so he can contact them about your trades with Heather. This is his email address:

I to was one ripped off by Heather Winn.About7 weeks ago now,we agrred to trade my roxie for her soar,so i did my part of the deal,sent to the following address:Heather Winn,c/o Bagel Cafe,325 N.Turner,Hobbs,NM. Never got my beanie or any reply from her,although she got hers that i sent her.Then was told she had passed away in a car accident.This i found out later was a sick prank,not only did it make me mad,but just showed me how low some people will go.We were all given her fathers email address,and assured that the beanies would be returned.I sent an email to her father,but have yet to hear from him.I think this one is a lost cause.   Thanks for your help.   Joanne Dinga!

I sent her a Liberty trio (three bears) that are worth more than I paid for them....and she was to give me Wales for the Liberty trio......In her one e mail to me she told me she is just a kid and thought that this was a way to get her beanies FOR FREE!!!!! I just received an e mail telling me she sent my beanies back (if I can beleve her) on July 31.. I am going to give her anther day or two, and if they don't show up, I will file a Mail Fraud claim on her....I have a list of 13 others that Shortshortz has scammed.....

I received my Liberty trio that I sent to Shortshortz, and am now satisfied... If she is brought up on mail fraud charges, i will gladly give you what I have from her, but my package did arrive..... thanks for your help..Lois

Hi I have e-mailed everyone and asked them to send me the names of the beanies that they sent me and I would send them back their beanies....I have had some things go wrong here lately so i decided it would be easier to just send back their beanies....a couple of the people on your list keep sending me harrassing e-mails and i am trying to get everyone's beanies sent back but those people just won't give me any info they just keep telling me they are turning me in...i can't make it right if they don't tell me which beanies i need to send to them...i am doing my best here...well i guess reply to me...Heather

I will not beable to get all of them sent out tomorrow but i will as soon as i can get the money....i am trying my best here...i don't blame them for not believing me i wouldn't believe me either...

Every time someone wants to talk to me about this, Heather Instant Messages me for days, Harassing me and everyone who get on our computer! It's driving me crazy! I don't know what's worse. The fact that she has my beanies or the fact that she Instant Messages me 24-7 about how it's not her that everyone is talking about, or the fact that she's only a child and didn't mean to hurt anyone. I'm at the point that she can keep the beanies and all her problems. I sent her a German Bear (PVG) and she was sending me a Lib. Trio. Didn't happen! I have since gotten 3 More PVGs in trade, and I have 2 Lib. Trio. I just want her parents to get her off the computer and keep her from bothering me. Everyday I get on and there she is: "HELLO?" ....... HELLO?............ HELLO? every five min. It's driving me crazy!!!!  I collect for fun, nothing else. I have two boy that love Beanies. People like that make it, for lack of a better word, unfun!  But that's the gist of it!!   Thanks

my name is raquel pacleb and yes i made a trade with heather winn sometine 24th of june. she responded to my ad that i posted at bbot. she will trade my britannia in exchange for her scotland. i told her that i'll ship it thursday 25th of june and then she told me she'll ship on that day too. funny thing is i already mailed the beanie before asking her where i can view her referenc but never hear from her since then. i emailed her back again telling her to pls email me back once she recieved it but no reply from her. by the first of july i'm moving out and will be on a much needed vacation so i'll be very busy and don't have time to check the post office so i told her to my email that it's ok even if she send it late as long as she will follow thru our deal that i expect my beanie by the last week of july. by last week of july i'm so upset when i still don't have the beanie (brittania) . and saw these so many post about her at bbot. so then i sent an email asking these people what happen and they told me the same thing that they are scammed by heather winn. someone gave me the email of heather's dad. so i emailed him but not have the courtesy to reply back too. what i want is my beanie back. thanks for your time and effort for helping us.

Hi I sent Heather beanies on June24th. I mailed her Spangle trio and Clubby 1. I had delivery confirmation put on the package. She received them on June 27th at 9:41 am. After she got my beanies she deleted all my email without even reading them. I printed out all of her emails to me and a print out of the post office delivery confirmation from the site. I still have all of them. She emailed me that she had to get some money and would mail them later. That was over a week ago. I still have her emails saved. I hope this helps. Thanks, Karen

I am so sick and tired of hearing of that name. I was the first of her list to pull a scam. She was supposed to have traded me MC and Wales for my Signature Trio and Soar. I didn't send my beanies out to her, I never send out if they contact me, I only send first if I contact someone. The problem is that I turned down 7 other trades during this time for the beanies she had asked for. I explained to her that this was a Binding Contract because all details were discussed. I have for 3 months been put threw so many lies with the girl, that it has cost me to lose some very good trades with others. First it was a car accident, then it was her dying. When I explained to her that fraud charges were made for what she has done, she began emailing me and asking me over and over again, what she was supposed to have sent. I finally after about 27 times told her to never email me again because she obviously does not have the beanies she was suppose to send me. I further advised her that if she did email me again charges of harassment will be made against her. About 3 days later, she emailed me with an attachment that that had nothing to do with beanies, a message came up on my screen that the content that was sent could contain a virus. I sent her an IM asking her if she thought this was a big joke to her. She of course denied sending any emails to me. I have all this saved in my computer, proving she did indeed email me, after she was fully warned not to. My charges have been made and I hope to see her in court.   Tammy

I was about to trade with Heather, but I was a bit unsure, as she only asked  for 1 England (white) and 1 England Champion in exchange for 1 Wales bear.  So I e-mailed her with a request that she send first... I didn't hear anything for about 2 days, then the post was on BBOT saying that Hearther had been hurt in a car crash.So I guess my instinct paid off and I haven't lost any beanies.I asked to be notified about any news on this, as I nearly traded with Heather and i am interested to how this will be resolved.Thanks for trying to sort this problem out.  Jodie
