on September 18th, 2002. She failed to make anymore contact with me, so I emailed her on Oct. 2 to see if my parcel had arrived..she confirmed that it had & hopefully mine would be there soon. I emailed her a number of times thereafter & she wouldn't respond. I finally said I would be posting negative feedback and contacting traderlist if she didn't respond..she finally did on Oct. 15th...to say she had been sick..blah, blah. She is an ebay seller and had posted lots during the period that I had been emailing her & when I mentioned it, she gave more excuses. Finally, on Oct. 19, she stated she would send the Brit buddy from her personal collection and I asked to send with tracking & to provide me with a valid tracking number (as it's only $7) she failed to do so and after numerous emails, she finally contacted me again on Oct. 23 saying the buddy would be mailed out on Thurs or Fri. I again asked for the tracking number, emailing her each day..on Oc. 25th, she emailed to say that tracking was too expensive and she mailed it by air. I don't believe she mailed anything, as I emailed her right away ( more than once ) and she won't answer my emails. She changed her email address on smartcollecting, as I went to leave her negative feedback there and the email is no longer linked to her feedback. Goodluck2428@aol.com she is still selling on ebay under the user name goodluck2428 but I don't know what the email address is for there. I have emailed 2 people who left her negative feedback on ebay and received similar song and dance stories from them...one person, Jonnie Dorman will making contact with one of your mediators and we have both emailed her police service...which is redirecting us to a detective in the department. I did check her name on the internet white pages and got the same address and name for her as on the parcel that I mailed, but ebay has her listed as Jennifer S. Hopper ( instead of Jennifer Ruth) same address and phone number. Any suggestions or intervention would be greatly appreciated. I mailed her a MWMT Chinook buddy, MomE and Red America for her MWMT Britannia buddy. I also conferred with an auction winner of hers that had won a MomE from Jennifer and she had posted negative feedback, saying it took Jennifer over 2 months to send the bear...when I read the email from Sharon Froiland, I was shocked, it sounded like Jennifer sent her the Mome that she received from me. Sharon said she kept emailing Jennifer and finally Jennifer said she had a Mome coming from Canada and it would be shipped out soon. I have all of the emails between myself and Jennifer..plus the email from Sharon and 2 from Jonnie. Thanks so much for any help you can give to us.   Sincerely,    Lisa Russell

She apparently already mailed the parcel (twice) but she has also done this to some of her ebay buyers, so I have made contact with a couple of them & they will also be getting in touch with you. For feedback, it was smartcollecting, not collecting nation, although she is on collecting nation, but not authorized to trade yet...I contacted Cindy Thomson with CN mediation already too. She was the one who advised to have Jennifer mail the parcel Global Express, so it was trackable and she got the phone numbers and emails of Jennifers local police service. I emailed a constable Plummer and he is passing my email to their detective unit (Sgt. Copher). It has been over a month and a half and I am not her first victim, but unfortunately, no one else had done anything at this point, so we are trying to get a group of us together to make a complaint. I have just posted a complaint against an eBay dealer, Ms. Jennifer Ruth (possibly also known as Ruth Hopper). Once I left negative feedback on her site, I received an email from Lisa Russell who had also had problems with Ms. Ruth. She is the one who suggested that I contact you, and I am aware that she has already done so. There are a few others who have also had trouble with this dealer, and I will suggest that they also contact you. In brief, this is my 'story" :

I paid in full for a beanie from Jennifer Ruth's eBayauction on August 29th through PayPal. Over two months later I still have not received the item. Ms Ruth has not responded to any of my emails, and has now accused me of not paying for the item, even though I have sent her a copy of the receipt for the full amount which has been deducted from my account. This is not the first time she has done this to her customers, for I have been contacted by three others who have had the same problem. Her telephone has been disconnected, and eBay has no address for her. Yet she continues to sell online. I no longer believe she will be honest enough to refund my money, but I am hopeful that others will not be cheated as I have been. I have contacted the police in Dayton, Ohio and written to both PayPal and eBay. Pay Pal (through whom I paid for the item) suggested I write negative feedback on eBay. I had been waiting to do so, in the hopes that I might get a refund or the item. In any case, I did write the feedback, and immediately Ms Ruth not only had a nasty (and erroneous) response to the feedback, but wrote a very negative and untrue feedback for me. So she obviously reads her emails. So not only has she cheated me out of the item, she has maligned my name, which really upsets me.   This is a copy of my receipt for payment:

PayPal and eBay both seem to be doing nothing, as she continues to trade on eBay. If the purchase is below a certain amount or a certain time period has passed, they don't want to know. I no longer want the beanie, and my credit card company is attempting to get my money back. I doubt they will be successful, which is disappointing to say the least. I recognize that I will probably never get my money back, but I don't want others to be cheated. Nor do I feel I should have this negative feedback. I was unable to bid for an item recently as the seller would not accept bids from someone with negative feedback such as mine. I feel the feedback system is basically a good one, but it certainly can have its drawbacks, as illustrated in this case.I have received emails from others who never received their beanies from Ms. Ruth. Her response to negative feedback is always the same - it is the buyer's fault. She then leaves that buyer very negative feedback in retaliation. Meanwhile, she continues to actively sell on eBay. This must be wrong. Hopefully your investigation will have some results. If there is anything I can do to be of assistance, I will be glad to do so. Thank you for your time and help with this problem.  Ms Ruth ought to be under investigation and stopped from negligent practices. I had won a auction on EBAY from her and I paid her right away. After about a month I still had not gotten my MOM-E beanie. I emailed her and she said it must of gotten lost and that she had not insured it ,but she said she had another one coming from Canada. I still didn't hear from her and I emailed her many times over a month and a half she all ways said she was still waited for the beanie to arrive. After that I told her I wanted my money back and after about 3 weeks and more emails she did send the money. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I hope this helps. Sharon Froiland

The item I bid on was not as described. There was some basic wear and tear on the item--nothing major. But to me, Mint condition means almost like new. This did not qualify for that. I reflected that on goodluck2428@aol.com feedback forum and then she gave a -in my opinion-spiteful feedback for my part of the transaction. My payment was quick and without delay. She e-mailed me about my negative rating and I offered to counter it if she wanted to negotiate the problem. She did not respond, but rather left the negative rating in my category. I do not feel I was wrong, when someone advertises a product it should be as they described--her product was not! To me that undermines the integrity of the auction process. If she had been willing to negotiate something, then I would have offered a follow-up saying this individual was willing to remedy their mistake, but I would not have revoked the first feedback because it remained true. Does this make since. Other feedback for this person I noted was similar in that there was poor response to customer dissatisfaction and she was not always efficient in sending items. I would have checked her feedback on SC also. When we made our first trade she gave me the address of 3564 Sellars Rd. - when I emailed to confirm she gave me 3568 and said 3564 was her mother's address so it didn't matter which one I used. Her user name then under ebay was jruth3. Anyway I sent Jennifer 4 Beanie Babies for a Authentic Buckingham, she received mine but I have not seen her's as yet and that was back in late August or early Sept. I got the same excuses she has been ill etc. but lately nothing. I did have good trades with Jennifer in the beginning which was in June, again in July. I don't know why she has gone sour. I don't know what her user name was on SC. I have sent 3 different parcel to her at 3568 Sellars Rd. I am sorry but that is all the information I have as my computer wiped out all my saved files.    Mary

Have been told that Main Street is the same as Sellars Street but there is no listing for sellars st. Have also been told this phone number was disconnected. The Montgomery County Police said  the address is in Moraine County.

I did have a bad experience with this seller, and actually contacted Pat about this who has helped me a couple of times in the past. Unfortunately, though, this particular time I never heard anything back from her. I purchased a set of 3 German exclusive beanie babies from Jennifer Ruth via MetaExchange. It was "part of the deal" that the items would be sent Priority Mail w/DELIVERY CONFIRMATION. I paid via PayPal, $100.75. Ms. Ruth continually kept giving me excuses ... "I was in a car wreck," "I've been sick," etc. She sent me a tracking # and I tracked the package via USPS website and the package ended up being delivered BACK TO HER. ("Ooops, I'm sorry. Made a mistake on the address," she said.) I eventually filed a complaint through PayPal (MetaExchange was absolutely NO help, AT ALL -- never even responded), they conducted an investigation and ruled in my favor. Unfortunately I was only able to recover (I believe) $87, but for that I was grateful. I believe I still have correspondence (not sure) if that would be helpful. Hope you can "get" this person! Paid for a Bidder beanie on the EBay auction site in November of last year have not received the beanie. Will not give proof of postage when she replies to e-mails sent that is over 200 sent 2 replys.
