I have recently had a terrible experience with Markeg@aol.com aka Julie
Gold. I sent her four MWMT beanies in exchange for two MWMT beanies for my
son. The ones she sent are of questionable authenticity--one was Ty Bubbles
and the seams do not meet as in the pictures on beaniemom.com link and I
called her right away on this. Of course, she assured me it was authentic
and not a problem, and against my husband's advice that I was "calling the
fox about being in the hen house" as he put it, I trusted her. Later, when
we were able to examine the other beanie she sent, a Ty Ally, we discovered
the tag was bent, and worn and had red paint? smears on the "t" portion of
the "ty" on the tag. Julie received her items from me two days later; they
went out late as one item was from Japan and my husband got back late; I
had emailed her about this and she was fine to wait. I did not hear back
from her about her receipt of the package and finally emailed her (in the
meanwhile I was trying to find a way to authenticate the beanies she had
sent). Only after I email her she told me that two of the beanies I had sent
her arrived with bent corners. I had taken them directly from bags, put homemade
protectors on them which I have used many many times with no complaints--in
fact praise--and sent them bubble wrapped with extra paper in the box to
ensure good shipping. None of the four items I sent had bent tags. In fact,
one item I noticed to have a "dent" in it, not a bend or crease, let her
know this, and replaced it with same item with good tag before shipping.
Again, she did not mail me about any problems upon receipt or even let me
know she had gotten the package. Once my mail was sent, and she stated that
two tags were bent, I again further questioned the authenticity of the ones
she had sent me, and wondered if she was now trying to get even more items
from me. I told her initially that I would replace the bent items, but that
I may just want to trade back since there was so much uncertainty and loss
of trust at this point. After consulting with many people more experienced
than I with these matters, I then mailed her again and said I did want to
trade back, and requested she send back all of mine and I would send hers.
I then got back two emails from her, the first stating at first she would
replace damaged items but later in the mail saying she would not do so and
would not trade back; then she sent a second saying she would not trade back
and that she was going to a show to sell soon. Then I got some what would
appear to be very hostile mail from her with untruths and accusations. I
am still in the process of trying to authenticate the two Ty items she sent
for my son; I have found one who will do so if I send it with $25 plus $9
shipping but I am trying to locate someone here. Please help!!

Hi. My name is Julie and I'm responding to a negative trade report that was
turned into you about me. I was very distressed to recieve this e-mail from
you. Up until now, I was under the impression that Patti and I were still
in the middle of possibly figuring out a solution, that might be fair to
both of us.I'm sorry that she felt it necessary to go this far. I had
hoped for a better outcome.I'd like to explain why I don't feel I am under
obligation to send back the beanies that I traded for honestly and in good
faith. After a lengthy negotiation, I sent my beanies (a Bubbles and an Ally,
both Authentic and with Mint tags) to Patti, and she was to send hers at
the same time, but didn't, using the excuse that one of the beanies she offered
in trade wasn't there yet. She hadn't bothered to tell me that till after
I had shipped already, which I thought was unfair, but I gave her the benefit
of the doubt. When she got my package, she did call about a seam that didn't
look quite right on Bubbles, which I hadn't noticed (and I'm pretty close
at scrutinizing my beanies.)She said her husband looked closely at it and
thought that maybe it was an eighth of an inch off.I just figured, that since
these beanies are partially hand sewn, it was probably just a minor error.
At that time I told her it was important that she felt comfortable with the
trade and by all means, have the Bubbles checked out. A few days later she
went ahead and sent her side of the trade and nothing more was said about
Bubbles. I received the beanies, and two of the lesser beanies she sent had
bent tags, that hadn't been mentioned at any time in the trade negotiations.
After a day of deliberation, I decided to email her, reluctantly, as I hated
to cause problems, but thought that maybe she had sent me the wrong beanies
by mistake, as she seemed an honest trader. It was only then, after she received
my email explaining the bent tags on Dumbo and Pooh, after she had had both
Bubbles and Ally for over a week and well after shipping me her end of the
trade, that she began to complain about the tag on Alley. She then mentioned
that we should just forget the whole thing and trade back. I didn't feel
this was fair, as I was quite happy with the Merlin, which is the beanie
I traded Bubbles for. I'd be quite happy to exchange the other beanies, but
I really wanted Merlin, and was even prepared to keep the bent tagged ones
and let it drop. She obviously wasn't prepared to do the same and insisted
that I send her beanies back. I told her that I would keep the beanies I
had and that I was sorry she was so upset, as I never intended to upset anyone,
but felt I was right in not reversing the trade. I really think she is being
vindictive since I'm the one who complained to her, and I did it in such
a nice way too !! At no time was I insistent or abusive in my email.. just
concerned that she may have sent the wrong beanies by mistake, because before
shipping she mentioned some bad tagged ones she had discovered. I am also
not convinced that she didn't switch Ally and maybe even Bubbles by now,
although I hate to think that someone would do something like that.
She had my beanies first, and plenty of time then to rescind the trade, but
I feel that by sending her beanies to me, she was completing the transaction.I
don't know if she discovered the value of Merlin has gone up or what, but
I don't feel that, after accepting a trade, and following through, that anyone
then has the right later, to demand that the trade be reversed. Values are
such, especially with Disney Beanies, that they could be worth nothing one
day and the next day be worth a lot. If this were allowed, everyone would
be demanding that trades be reversed. We did both confer with the webmaster
at The Disney Beanie Report (Dustie Meads) and after reviewing our information
she felt that there was no intention on either side to deceive, and that
the trade was a completed one, and that I'm under no obligation to reverse
the trade. I pride myself on my immaculate references, and because
of that, I take this VERY SERIOUSLY (prob. too much ) It may be an everyday
occurance for you, but I've been trading on-line for over a YEAR now (were
talking alot of trades too, not just once in awhile) and no-one has ever
even ask me to exchange a beanie for them, let alone something like this,
it really bothers me alot. If this trader is allowed to post a negative trade
against me on your site,I would like the option to post one against her,
so that I may defend my position. Thanks very much for your time and
for providing this service to help keep the net safe for trading. I believe
in this very much, and assure you that I am a good trader. Please
let me know what the outcome of your decision is. I also have email that
I can send, to back up my claims, if you should need any. Thank you, Julie

Hi, I have heard from markeg. she says she does not want to return trade,
I told her that you were accusing her of sending fakes and that was a serious
charge. I told her this could hurt her reputation a lot and that she needed
to return the trade or to pay you to have the bb authenticated. If they turn
out to be fake she then is responsible for replacing or sending back original
trade. If they turn out to not be fake you would have to send her the money
for the price to have them authenticated and the deal would stand. What do
you think or this? I just sent the email to her about this and have not heard
back yet.

I just received this mail; I have been away from the computer, This sounds
quite fair to me; please let me know when you hear back further from markeg.
Again, thanks for your help in this matter with trying to resolve the
authenticity of the beanies in question; I have seen the form for authentication
by Peggy Gallagher Enterprises, and have a copy of the form used to send
in beanies; the cost is $25 plus return shipping for each beanie (which is
$9.10 UPS Ground), plus return insurance coverage costs of $1.05 for $300
insurance.
Thanks again, Patti aka nocluexxox@aol.com

I'm sure there is more that must be done with the both of you before this
is settled one way or the other. But it is now offically on hold, for quite
awhile actually. We have just been notified that my Grandmother has past away
this eve. This was my fathers mother, and I live in his home, so all funeral
activity will be out of this household. We have much to do to prepare, and
I will be too busy time wise, and emotionally to deal with this mess. Getting
a taste of how your minds work, has led me to the conclusion that you probably
assume that I'm lying. (I pity you both) So I'm assurring you that this is
verifiable. For the last week and 1/2 she has been under the care of "Hospice
Home " in Farmington Hills Michigan there # is 248-426-4000. Her name was
Rose Gold.Call if you must. If anything negative is done to me in ANY way
during this time, be assurred that I will take every action neccessary against
either or both of you. If for example, I am posted as a negative trader on
your site, on the basis of someone else's unsubstinated word, I will begin
legal proceedings against the traderslist for allowing such a defamation
of character to be posted when it is completely unwarranted, as well as against
Patti for slander or libel depending on which fits the circumstances legally
(I'm no lawyer). If in the mean time you want to waste your time and try
to prove that the beanies I SENT (not replacements) are fakes, go right ahead. It
will never happen, bubbles was shipped by TY to a store, and the store manager
sold it to me, after storing it for a long time at their home.I'm not worried
about this challenge , it's no threat as far as I'm concerned. They ARE TY
beanies !! I'll be in touch when I'm ready - Julie

I have heard absolutely nothing from her at all. Julie has not contacted
me since she replied to you and sent me a copy of her response mentioning
the "death". Patti
