I got off the phone with the Orlando PD earlier this afternoon and I was
able to file a police report. So, I now have a case number and I was told
to send copies of everything I had saved regarding this issure to a Sgt.Coleman
and they would investigate this. Below is a copy of what I left on the mesaage
board and I filled in his phone number and address. In October of 1998, I
won an ebay auction to receive the October set of new releases of '98(Santa,
Halo, etc.) auction #38761676. Myself and two other people were the winning
bids in a dutch auction and the total amount was $230.00. Well, shortly after
the auction ended, Mr. Maffucci of Orlando FL kept emailing me repeatedly
to find out when I was going to send the money order. Finally, I mailed it
out, overnight no less, because he told me he would have to sell the beanies
to someone else if I didn't pay on time. Well, this was a pre-sell auction
and he gave everyone until Dec. 1, 1998 to deliver the beanies. Dec.3 came
around and no beanies. The other winners and I kept in contact and we were
all upset, so two of us decided to telephone Maffucci. He gave us the runaround
and told us some story about how his girlfriend took all of the beanies and
money orders and fled the country. He then said that he would pay us back.
Another month went by and nothing. I called him three more times (in late
Dec. of 1998, Jan 3, and Jan 12 of 1999) , no luck and I ended up tracing
the money order, which was cashed by him and he used a passport to verify
the MO, so I now have a copy of his signature and his passport number. I
called the FBI and spoke with someone. They were no help. Since then, I have
been frustrated about what to do because ebay's Safe Harbor also failed to
help out, and I am tight on funds so hiring a lawyer is not too possible.
I really need advice from anyone that this has happened to, but was able
to get things resolved. I wasted a lot of time and hard saved money to pay
for beanies I never received. It is especially hard when you are a college
student. Please share your advice anyone! By the way, here is Maffucci's
