My son showed me a new,to us,auction site,bidville.I ended up signing up and getting involved in an auction.I was "lucky" enough to win.I sent a money order and have received nothing in return.I have sent several e-mails everyday and have received no response.

I sent the money order November 2,He signed for it November 9.I sent it return receipt requested.The money order was for $159.00. I am very embarassed about this.My son wants a Playstation 2 very badly for christmas.My husband was in a car accident July 28,1999 and has been unable to work since.I am working two part-time jobs and cleaning three homes on the side.I thought this was the answer to my prayers.I would appreciate any help you can give me.I have no idea what to do.I contacted Bidville and they sent this address.I have bought on ebay for a long time and have never had any problems.My member ID on ebay is ginas2angels. I checked his feedback.He was new.He showed a zero.I have e-mailed him about twice a day.No response.I received an e-mail from a woman who the same thing happened to.She lost $150.00.I also e-mailed him before I put in a bid.He said he had a friend,who was a manager at a Toys R Us.They were leaving the area where he lived,and he bought 30 Playstation 2's below cost.He told the other woman the same story.She has been e-mailing him too. She said he is active on ebay also,so I don't know how many victims there are.   Thank You,    Gina Van Dolsen

Hi - my name is Sue Mitchell. Gina just forwarded me the email you sent her regarding the deadbeat seller that you have proved was a kid. I have already tried reverse directly as well as several other options of  trying to get a phone number for this person Rob Balis. Unfortunately,  there is no listing. I have been in contact with another bidder who had  already sent his money and hasn't received anything yet who happens to live very close to this person. If he doesn't receive his item by next week, he is personally going over to this seller's house and confront him. I have sent your AOL information on to him. This kid had us all beat. I've been doing business on ebay for quite some time and was very leery of his "zero" seller feedback status with bidville. But, I went on Ebay, looked him up by his email address and noticed he was under a different ID (gohome222222222) and had really positive feedback from his buyer information. I also had sent him two emails trying to get a "feel" for him and he seemed incredibly nice. Here is the last email I received from him when I told him I had contacted all his buyers....he hasn't responded since.

There is proof now that he is a high school student at Bayonne High School and that his name is Rob Balis. It is Rob Balis that has cashed the money orders and he had to show id to do so.

Yes, this is a kid. Gina's husband contacted the Bayonne High School and confirmed that there currently is a student attending by the name of Rob Balis. I hopefully sent you a different email that confirmed the owner of the house he had us send our cash to has a last name of Colanda. This could either be that he kid is having the money sent to a friend's house or that the family is just renting. I will send your email on to those others that have already sent money and haven't received items. I had put a "heads up" to all those buyers on EBAY telling them NOT to send any money until they hear back from me. Some had already sent money - but many had not. They  were all very grateful to get my email - especially one buyer who was just about to send off more than $100.00! At least it helped someone. From the information you sent below - it appears this kid IS trying to now cover his tracks. I just wish there was some way we could get a hold of his parents and tell them what was happening. My other email to you indicated only two other BALIS names in Bayonne - I might just send off letters to both to see if we get lucky. Take care,   Sue

Won one his auctions on bidville. Sent money order and never got the item.

Hello i was called into the vice principal's office of my school and spoke with him upon this matter. I explained to him my situation. And you will get a refund, i can refund your $159 within 2 weeks or so and it will not be a problem. here is why, a while ago my friend well one who i thought was my friend steven kelly, told me to put these auctions up on for him. I did and i cashed a few money orders for him and took my share, and for some strange reason i could not get into my aol account. Well recently i found out a few things. first off he never sent you any playstation 2, he kept your money. secondly he changed my aol password so i could not log on to check my email, i had to go back and check with aol to get my password changed. Well in any case bad move on my part that nobody should have to pay for. So i will refund your money to you within 2 weeks. I discussed these matters with the vice principal of my school and he believes my story. And i hope you do to i am not some theif, i'm just a kid to be honest with you. I hope me and you can clear this up. I can understand why you would be so pissed but that was a little bit odd calling my school, as it was explained to me it was not a school matter. The best thing to do would be to contact the bayonne police. Please i hope we can end this with you calling my school or anyone for that matter. I have a rather good reputation. No history even with the police, may be hard to belive but i'm a good kid. Trust me if i wasn't i wouldnt sending you any money. Just remember i'm the one that got $159 stolen from him now. So i do know how you feel. I have to save up for about 2 or 3 weeks so i can pay you back, but i will. Please email me back with your adress and will get your money out to you.

First of all,there are several people who have been ripped off.Sue Mitchell from Arizona did a lot of computer work to find the people.There is a gentleman,Nick, who lives about 40 minutes away from there.He is going there tomorrow to meet with one of the detectives from the Bayonne Police Department.We all have been in contact with her.She said Rob has done this before and will,most likely,do it again.The last time he ripped a guy off for $1,100.00.He is a minor(they didn't say how old)and attends Bayonne High School.The detective has been in touch with the mother and her only concern is when will Rob be old enough so she won't be responsible for what he does.I'll know more after Nick meets with Detective Dias'.  ( phone number-(201)858-6925.That is for the Bayonne Police Department.They do not have internet access)  We all contacted his school also. I received an email from Rob asking for my address and apologizing for the "misunderstanding" (yeah, right!). As of now, it's a wait and see situation. I gave my name to another person who actually lives in New Jersey and is hand delivering the information to a Detective working the case. We are suppose to give it two weeks to receive refund of money owed. If we don't receive anything within two weeks, we are to get in touch with the Detective who will follow up with the mom. So - I'm just giving it the two weeks. We'll see if the mom will make restitution.  Sue

my name is Nick Colucci,I have been cheated by Rob Balis to.I have all the info from 9 other people he has been scamming as well.I am in contact with Detective Dias of the Bayonne Police Department and am going to see her on Friday with all the info I have and how much he owes everyone.She is going to relay this info to the Mother and tell her she has to pay us back since he is a minor and she is responsible for his actions.  Gina wrote to me to ask if I would give you over some of the info I have.Please let me know what you need and I will be glad to send it your way.   Thanks    Nick

I met with Detective Dias of the Bayonne Police Dept today and gave her all the info you have sent me along with my own account of the dealings with Rob Balis.She is going to go to the Mother with it and pressure her to pay us back or else see little Rob get into some serious trouble.She is also going to his School principal ,who she knows and asking him to put the screws to him as well.I am confident after talking with her that she will do all she can to get us our money back.She told me to give it until the first of the year and to then let her know the staus of what is going on as far as if anybody has heard from the kid or has gotten paid.Please get back to me if you hear anything from him in regards to payment.He has contacted Susan Mitchell and said he would be refunding her money.He gave some lame excuse about being tricked and that it wasnt him ripping us all off.He only did this after Detective Dias called his house the first time,hopefully after she talks to the mom again we will all be hearing from him.Keep me in touch if you hear from him so i can let Dias know.   Thanks for all your help    Nick

I had a couple of dealings with this Balis character and he got me for $57.00 on his Bidville Auctions.  I bought several cards, baseball and football, from this guys Bidville Auction site. I will send you the list from my Bidville auction page. I sent the money, in the form of a money order, and recieved nothing in return, not even any replies from Rob Balis. I WAS SCREWED BY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE NOT CHEATED. HE NEVER SENT MY ITEM(LEATHER JACKET) THE BAYONNE POLICE DEPT. DETECTIVE HAS CONTACTED HIS MOTHER AS WELL AS HIS SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND ARE GOING TO TRY TO PROCECUTE HIM FOR COMPUTER FRAUD I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THERE PUTTING THE SQUEEZE ON HIS MOTHER. I REALLY DONT CARE ABOUT THE MONEY I LOST I WANT TO SEE THIS LITTLE BASTARD FRY. Bad trader YanksGiants2139 -He took me for a playstation 2 for 251 bucks. I sent a money order and he never sent the unit. I should have checked there earlier.

as far as I know his mother has paid off everybody on the list I have given her.She personally has paid off everyone.I know he is still at it though.She had lied to me and told me that she has stopped him from using the computer while at the same time she is telling me this he is racking up complaints on Yahoo auctions.He will not stop and she is not doing anything to stop him.I also got a email from a friend of his who says that Rob was using his account on AOL to rip the people off and he is being blamed for it.He told me that not only is Rob ripping people off on the auction sites but he is also stealing credit card numbers as well.I am going to contact Detective Dias with this new info and let her know he is till at it,I dont know what has to be done by the people he cheats and steals from to put a stop to it.Why is he still allowed to do this after all the police involvement?I really have dont understand why he is not locked up for stealing.Now with this credit card fraud he is doing,he is graduating to bigger and better things and nobody does anything to stop him.   Thanks     Nick
