This is email that I got from him when asking about the authenticity.
From: VAN IS 007
Pat,
Most of the rumors that you hear on here are most likely from people who
claim that they are experts on Beanie babies and can tell if u send it to
them for a fee. They most likely know nothing and are the ones spreading
the rumors so they can make a quick buck in one way or another. Also there
are other sellers who ask me to sell them some Beanies privately that they
dont have and and when i refused i dont doubt it that they spread rumors
about me. Now reagarding, Maple that you said i haven't sent, i have sent
it and it should have been there by now. At this point, give it like 2 more
days and if it doesn't turn up, i will put a trace on it with the U.S. postal
office since it was shipped with Confirmation. I will get back to you when
i find out I hope that this eases your mind. Also, my seller feedback should
tell you that im in no way a scam. Thanks for your understanding. Van

Update from: ANYAPM@aol.com
I JUST GOT IT AND IT IS FAKE. it has "made in indonesia" which could be possible, but ONLY with a fourth generation hang tag. this one has a 5th generation hang tag. the color (white) is slightly off, and the star on the hang tag has points rather than slightly rounded like ty's tags. it is the hang tag generation that is a dead give-away. what to do now ?? gues i should e-mail him and ask for $ back - on his e-bay auction, he states" It is in MINT condition. Maple is in MINT CONDITION with mint tags. It was purchased on the primary market, Therefore it is 100% AUTHENTIC. MAPLE will make an excellent addition to your collection. ( GAG )
From: VAN IS 007@aol.com
Pat,
I will go go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt and send u a
refund for $59.51. Only thing i need is for you to give me your address once
again. And again, im sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused you.
JUST A NOTE....There's a lady by the name of Peggy Gallagher and other like
her. She claims that she is an authenticator? The truth of the matter is
that most people who claim that they are authenticators are selling their
Beanies too. Therefore, when they claim that someone elses Beanie isn't
authentic, they in truth are claiming that because they want everyone else
to beleive that other peoples Beanies are not authentic while only theirs
are real and they themselves are the only ones who really know if its really
authenitc. Also, i sent one of my Beanies to someone who claimed that they
know if a Beanie is really authetnic, and when i got my Beanie back i totally
noticed that this individual had switched Beanies on me and the Beanie that
i sent did not even looked close to what i had sent them and this was a Liberty.
Needless to say, these are the people who claim to know if Beanies are authentic
or not. So i pretty much got my Beanie switched for something that looks
kinda close to what i sent. . Again, thankyou for your time and interest.
Sincerely, Van

Cautionlist: This person is a seller of fakes. I think that he might make
good if he gets a complaint from someone who knows that it is fake but there
are so many out there who have no idea that they have bought fakes. Also
he absolutely stated that his beanies were the real thing. They were not.
Sellers of fakes need to be on the bad traders list even if they do make
good with some people who find them out because of all the people that they
do sell to who have no idea they have bought a fake.

Henry Troung had this as his email beanieland@access1.net When I
try to email it comes back returned...fatal errors. His mailing address is
6167 Reseda Blvd.
Reseda Ca 91335
I got his phone number through ebay and all I get is an answering machine.
Hope this helps. I have sent this guy a payment for 2 auctions
won on ebay......Both were for the same kind of card. At first I thought
he just overlooked the fact it was for 2 or maybe mailed them separate.......so,
I tried emailing him ( 3 times ,I think)with no response. Next I notified
Ebay. They said to get his info and phone him to work it out. I tried
that,,,,,,,got the answering machine. In the mean time I left negative feedback
and of course he did too. He said I was someone else??? And left some dumb
message concerning a Beanie? I have since gotten in contact with another
ebayer that he allegedly has scammed. What do you suggest now.Should I file
a fraud report through USPS? thanks willie

Ebay seller of fakes, user name uwantugot has changed his email address
to gml86136@aol.com. His former email address was VANIS007@aol.com and is
listed on the bad trader list. Recently many have been emailing warnings
to his high bidders to check this list. He's now made all of his auctions
private and changed his email so they won't see it here. To clarify, this
is a new email address for the same user ID so undoubtedly it's still Van
Trung. Please list this email on the bad traders' list also so that those
checking here will be alerted. Thanks.

uwantugot This eBay seller is amazing. He has a rep. for dealing
in fakes. I won a Maple and paid from him before I realized this. I e-mailed
the seller saying that I had heard he might try to send me a fake and to
be sure and send me an authentic Maple as I would have it tested when it
arrived. Well, he e-mailed back and said he would send me a refund since
that is what I wanted! That wasn't what I wanted, what I wanted was what
was stated in the auction, an Authentic Maple bought on the primary market.
To his credit he did refund my money very quickly. BUT...NOW HE WANTS THE
BEAR BACK THAT HE NEVER SENT! I did a check, since APRIL 11, 2000 (ONE
MONTH), he has sold on eBay, 62 Libearty, 51 Brittania and 61 Maples! He
has taken in over $18,000 IN ONE MONTH!!!! Can someone contact the IRS and
see if he is paying taxes on this? If we can't stop him from selling these,
maybe we can make him pay a little more. Just a thought. To find this info,
just do a seller search on eBay for uwantugot and include closed auctions--you
will be amazed. Someone was kind enough to warn me when I was bidding on
a Libearty for over $100...thank you! Now all his auctions are private so
that no one can warn any of his buyers about what he is up to. Most people
are like me, I saw the feedback number of over 300 and never looked at what
was in there, there are many negatives from people who realize they got fakes,
but most of his buyers think they got the real thing for a great price so
he has what looks like good feedback. The mailing address was
1429 East Maple St.
Glendale, CA 91205
His e-mail address has been changed to, it isn't VANIS007@aol.com anymore.

is: snoobers_2000@yahoo.com Thank you. Sue

Please add the following email address for bad trader Van Troung, already
listed under VAN IS 007@aol.com. My friend bid on and won a Libearty and
just got the contact information. It is indeed Van Troung under new email
and ebay user ID of thL0012@aol.com. He is using the same address on Maple
St. in Glendale, CA. Van is currently selling under at least 2 emails at
ebay. This one and still user ID uwantugot. I enjoy your posts on the
Ty cyberboard. Thanks for helping to inform others about smart trading/buying
and all these fakes.

I asked if I could return a Libearty beanie because the flag was almost
on the belly, not on the chest. I sent it with delivery confirmation so I
could be sure it arrived. Guess what? He says there was no beanie in the
package!! I replied that there had to be because the P.O. charged me for
the weight, so then he said someone must have stolen it. Impossible...I had
the box all taped up. So now he has my money AND the beanie & I'm out
$105.00. Can anything be done? Look at all the comments on him...he is a
VERY dishonest person. His email address was VAN IS 007...now it has changed
to GML186136@aol.com. Eileen

Complaint filed by: BJS856@aol.com
I had the misfortune of receiving 4 counterfeit beanies yesterday from an individual known (at least to me) as Henry Truong. He used the id "lbeanieblove@aol.com" on eBay. This is also his e-mail address. The address he used was: 6167 Reseda Blvd. #217, Reseda, CA 91335. Unfortunately, I purchased the items before I read his feedback and before I looked him up on traderlist.com. I just saw the high feedback number & figured he was o.k. Then I got a funny feeling and looked him up on traderlist (after I had paid him via PayPal). Before I received the items, I e-mailed him on 7/12/00 to let him know I had read his feedback as well as the bad reports on traderlist, and I told him I sincerely hoped the Beanies were authentic. He answered me on 7/13/00 telling me they had been shipped on 7/12/00 & assured me they were authentic. They arrived on 7/14/00.
The items purchased were: Radar #369374075 for $26.00 on 6/30/00, Flash #370222642 for $25.00 on 7/1/00, Bessie #370224009 for $20.49 on 7/1/00, and Libearty #371055409 for $70.99 on 7/2/00. The total with shipping was $150.48, paid for via PayPal on 7/2/00. I just found out this evening that he has been suspended from eBay! At least that is a little consolation (until he changes his name and account again).
Any help you could provide in recovering the money I spent would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your assistance and for providing a place for those of us "taken" to ventilate! Sincerely, Barbara Sullivan

I have posted a complaint on BTL as of July 27, 2000. I had "won" an eBay
auction (#380520359) for $29.50 with shipping on July 14, 2000 from:
Mr. Van Truong
1429 East Maple Street
Glendale, CA 91205
email addy: th10012@aol.com
On July 15, 2000 I sent my standard verification email and asked for the
name and address for payment along with shipping charges.
On July 16, 2000 Mr. Truong replied, and on July 17, I obtained a postal
money order and sent it out to him. As of July 27, 2000 I had not heard (email)
from Mr. Truong nor received my Ty Beanie Baby. After receiving an email
from someone concerned with auction abuse and counterfeits which led me to
your BTL site, I sent another email to Mr. Truong at th10012@aol.com which
was promptly returned "undeliverable". Seems like I am not alone in this,
as is evidenced by your website. While it seems overwhelming at the moment,
perhaps you can help me in some way either receive my Ty Beanie Baby Radar
or receive a refund of monies paid, or at least with any information on who
to contact for filing charges against Mr. Truong. Since this is a recent
case, all of Mr. Truong's eBay Auctions ended on July 14, 2000, perhaps there
is some immediate remedy near to hand. Thank you for any assistance you may
be able to provide... Sincerely, James M. Sheerin

I sent Henry Troung a money order for an auction that ended on June 26.
I received a blue Libearty! I told him I wanted my money back. On several
emails he said send the beanie back and I will return your money. I sent
him the money in good faith of getting a real beanie and I expected the same
from him. I told him I would return it COD and he could pay for all my shipping
cost. I sent it out COD on July 12 and emailed him the total. Today is July
26 2000 and I received a money order from the Post Office for the amount
that he owed me. I almost passed out!!! Here is the infomation I used to
do this. If you try to send COD make sure it is for CASH ONLY!!! Be very
careful of this man. I was one of the lucky ones.

I too have a problem with Mr. Van Truong....I have filed a complaint as
of July 27, 2000 here and I have one suggestion...write to the heads of all
the ISP's (Internet Service Providers) to assist in tracking down these
"criminals" who utilize the services of the ISPs to perpetrate their malicious
activities...I have written to Steve Case...President of AOL.. to enlist
his aid...if we as consumers who form the majority of the ISPs paying customers
base ask that our own ISPs help in any way to track down and put an end to
the criminal activities by a minority of "scam-artists"..to work "hand-in-hand"
with the Bad Traders List...perhaps one day, the majority of honest law abiding
consumers will not be afraid to conduct business over the internet with people
they cannot see or hear or touch. Sincerely, Jim Sheerin

I don't know who else may be dealing with this person but I was lucky
enough to win a few of his auctions on e-bay. The items were a few britainnia
bears. Not being a beanie collector I didn't know of this service listing
bad dealers. I was just looking for the bears as a gift for my girlfriend
and my sisters daughters. The bears were sent in a timely manner but all
three were fakes. Flags sewn on at an angle, tags not real TY tags, and they
were made in Indonesia. The dudes e-mail was lbeanieblove@aol.com. Being
stationed in the military overseas makes dealing with this a big hassle.
The return address on the package was:
Henry Truong
6167 Reseda BLVD APT 217
Tarzana CA 91335-7338
I tried to leave a negitive response on e-bay but he is no longer listed
as an active dealer. Hopefully this might help someone else from dealing
with him. nicholasphil_@hotmail.com

I purchased 4 fake Beanies from Henry Truong. After I realized they were
fake I contacted him and told him I wanted a refund, and advised him that
I was aware of what action I could take. His response was not terribly friendly,
but he agreed to refund my money if I returned the Beanies COD. As per Pat's
advice, I sent the Beanies COD (with cash only option), priority mail with
delivery confirmation to be delivered to addressee only, and I insured the
package. This was done on 7/24. Today I received a money order for approximately
$150.00. I asked for the amount I paid for the items, plus the original shipping,
and I subtracted .80 that he had to pay for the money order. Basically
I'm out $20, but it's a lot better than $150! Hang in there everyone! Be
persistent, stand your ground, have some patience, and, hopefully, you will
get a refund! Barbara

I won an auction on e-bay, back in march of this year. It was for a 100% authentic libearty beanie babie. He guaranteed it. Therefore i did not get it authenticated.Well, i took it to the hallmark store, where a lady had hers authenticated, and i compared them, mine was so different about everything.I e-mailed him and told him everything. he then sent me an e-mail saying that he would give me a refund or a replacement. Then i e-mailed him again saying that i wanted a refund, well instead he sent me another fake libearty. It was a little better, but there were still lots of differences. Then i e-mailed him back telling him i want a refund.I never got anything back,it said that the e-mail from aol said it was no longer there. So then someone e-mailed me about this list, because he sold them a fake one also. Then i contacted e-bay and they said he was suspended off of e-bay.Then i had no choice to go.I found out he had like 6 different e-mail addresses, which none were going through. Then i found out his address were 3 different ones, all in california. The one that i got my beanie from is/Van Truong 1429 east maple st glendale,ca,912051. I thought i could reach him on the phone. I gave the operator the 3 different addresses, none of them existed.

I have a big problem and I need your help. Between June till Aug 3rd 2000,
I bought 3 beanies (Radar, Coral and Libearty Beanies) from Henry Troung
A.K.A. Van Troung for a total of $160.00. At first, I didn't realize that
they were fake until I received my last order of Libearty beanie. Radar was
through Ebay Auction and Coral and Libearty beanies was done through the
email. I check his name out in the Traderlist and by then I realize all the
complains of his fake beanies. On 21 Aug, I send him 2 letters to the following
addresses, explaining to him that I was sending the beanies back for a refund.
Henry Troung
6167 Reseda Blvd. #217
Reseda, CA 91335

and the other to
K.C.
6308 W. 89th St #107
Los Angeles, CA 90045-3602
(Libearty beanie from this address)
Also, on that date I sent the package COD; and until today I haven't
receive any answer nor refund back. I have sent him several email but they
came back undelivered. At this point, I don't what else more to do, but to
send him a letter with a delivery confirmation. Is there anyway that I can
get his telephone number to the following address. I need your help. I have
a copies of all the letters and the receipt of the COD package that I sent
